The Plainville Community Schools Food and Nutrition Services team at Linden Street School hosted a special event on October 9th in recognition of CT Grown for CT Kids Week. CT Grown for CT Kids Week is an annual event happening every October in Connecticut. This week aims to celebrate and support local agriculture, public education and our community commitment to the importance of healthy nutritious meals in schools. The event highlighted the Plainville Community Schools' Food and Nutrition Services Department's commitment to incorporating fresh, local produce and products into school meals and featured the newly remodeled Linden Street School cafeteria promoting health and wellness, a local "Harvest of the Month" taste test, supported by a recently awarded CTGFCTK microgrant, and the opportunity to see Linden students act as "chefs-in-training" as they prepared the "Harvest of the Month" item and served it to fellow students and guests. In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, the taste test featured Alhambra Elote (Mexican Street Corn) which will be on the menu in all Plainville schools this year.

A group of Plainville High school students, led by Career Center Coordinator, Sue Bradley, enjoyed a comprehensive tour of local manufacturing company Trumpf Inc. in Farmington, Connecticut, on October 4th, as part of National Manufacturing Month. The students were able to learn about the Trumpf company and related career pathways while touring the facility.

The Plainville High School Counseling Department hosted the annual "College Fair" for students at the high school on October 7th. Students were able to visit with representatives from more than 100 colleges, universities , trade schools and military branches to learn about the admissions process, academics, campus life, career preparation and more.

More than 100 professionals from local businesses and organizations, representing the 16 National Career Clusters, participated in the Plainville High School "Career Gallery 2024" event held on September 27th. The Career Gallery event, held in the school's Wood Gymnasium allowed high school students to visit "career tables" organized by Career Cluster, to discuss vocational pathways of interest with visiting professionals. Additionally, Plainville High School will host a "Career Focused Learning Adventure Day" on November 7th, where students will have the opportunity to visit professionals on site at their workplaces and / or attend interactive vocational exploration sessions at the high school hosted by visiting professionals.

Special Olympics North America has announced that Plainville High School, a school with Special Olympics Unified Champion School® programming, is receiving national banner recognition for its efforts to provide inclusive sports and activities for students with and without intellectual disabilities.

During a recent "morning meeting" in Bridget McKenna's first grade class at Linden Street School, she introduced the start of Hispanic Heritage Month. To help students understand its significance, they watched a video that explained what Hispanic Heritage Month is and why it is celebrated.

Louis Toffolon Elementary School Physical Education Teacher, Rob Silliman, has been selected as the Connecticut Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (CTAHPERD)'s Elementary School Physical Education Teacher of the Year! Rob will be honored at the organization's Annual Awards Reception in Southbury, Connecticut on November 21st.

September 9-13, 2024 is National Arts in Education Week! We are proud of the multitude of opportunities our students have to participate in high quality, award winning Arts programs led by our talented faculty members in Plainville Community Schools.

Plainville Adult and Continuing Education has been awarded WIOA Title II Program Enhancement Projects (PEP) for Adult Education federal grant funds, to support three priority areas, totaling $105,000, according to Superintendent of Schools, Brian Reas.

Joanna Tysko and Jacqueline Cappiello have been named assistant principals at the Middle School of Plainville, according to Superintendent of Schools, Brian Reas.

Melissa Orfitelli, assistant principal at the Middle School of Plainville, has been named principal of Linden Street School, according to Superintendent of Schools, Brian Reas.

Parent volunteer leaders / officers of the Linden Street School, Frank T. Wheeler Elementary School, and Louis Toffolon Elementary School Parent Teacher Organizations (PTOs) , the Middle School of Plainville's Parent Teacher Club (PTC) , and Plainville High School's Parent Advisory Council (PAC), were honored for their contributions at the June 10th Plainville Board of Education meeting.

The Louis Toffolon Elementary School Choir, which consists of 64 fourth and fifth graders, performed The Star Spangled Banner at Dunkin' Park before the Hartford Yard Goats game on Saturday, June 1st.

District programming received additional financial support thanks to two grants from the Plainville Community Fund at the Main Street Community Foundation.

Students at Louis Toffolon Elementary School recently enjoyed a visit from special guest and local children's book author, Dana Meachen Rau!

On Sunday, May 19th, amidst the cheers and excitement of the Hartford Yard Goats baseball game at Dunkin' Park, a special moment unfolded as the Middle School of Plainville was honored with the prestigious 2023-24 Anti-Defamation League No Place for Hate designation. Amidst the crack of baseball bats and the roar of the crowd for Middle School of Plainville seventh grader, Jahsir Torres, who threw out the first pitch of the game, representatives from the Middle School proudly paraded their banner around the field, showcasing their commitment to inclusivity and tolerance.

Plainville High School students Nikolas Dahlstrom and Igor Gomes have been named recipients of the second semester “Student Rocks Award” recognizing their outstanding contributions to Plainville High School.

On May 17th, Connecticut "Kid Governor" Cabinet Member Paula Sanchez-Barreto visited fifth graders at Linden Street School to talk about diversity and inclusion, as well as the Kid Governor Cabinet opportunity!

Students in Courtney Caldwell's second grade class at Louis Toffolon Elementary School enjoyed a year of honing their writing skills, building friendships, and learning about the country's Midwest region, through a "pen pal" initiative with a second grade class in North Platte, Nebraska, coordinated by Ms. Caldwell

A group of Plainville High School students were able to explore a variety of trades and pathways in the Construction career cluster during a field trip on May 1st to the Construction Career Day event held in Wallingford, sponsored by the Associated Builders & Contractors of Connecticut.

On May 7th, Middle School of Plainville Paraprofessional Dawn Richardson was surprised with balloons, flowers and notification that she has been selected as the 2024 Plainville Community Schools Support Staff Person of the Year. Dawn was honored at the May 13th Plainville Board of Education meeting.

Plainville Community Schools Food Services Director, Ashley Carl, was recognized as the May Plainville Community Schools “All-Star” award winner at the May 13th Board of Education meeting. The “All-Star” award recognizes students, faculty, staff and community members who go above and beyond in modeling the school district’s Portrait of the Graduate characteristics and demonstrating excellence in alignment with the school district’s goals.

The annual Townwide Art Show, sponsored by the school district's Fine Arts Department and featuring works of student art from each of the five Plainville schools, will once again be held at the Plainville Public Library. Opening Night is April 29th, and the show runs through May 21st during regular library hours.

The Middle School of Plainville's Robotics Program received a grant from the Aquarion Water Company. According to faculty member and advisor Camille Westfall, the company has been a long time sponsor of the award winning program and are proud that two teams qualified to attend the World Robotics event in Dallas, Texas.

Frank T. Wheeler Elementary School’s Student Council members, led by advisor Sarah Miller, marked Earth Day on April 23rd by preparing and sharing presentations to every Wheeler class on the importance of Earth Day and recycling.

Students, families, faculty and staff members filled Plainville High School on April 23rd for the annual Superintendent's Update and Informational Showcase event, which included the award winning PHS Cheer team, performances by the PHS Chamber Choir, PHS Jazz Band and MSP 8th grader, Nolan Meehan, followed by an open house style showcase in the high school's cafeterias spotlighting student works, programs, initiatives, and more across the district. Refreshments were provided by the outstanding PCS Food Services Department!

The PHS National English Honor Society (NEHS) members, led by faculty member and advisor, Emily Wasley, are collaborating on a “Little Free Libraries” project.

The “All-Star” award recognizes students, faculty, staff and community members who go above and beyond in modeling the school district’s Portrait of the Graduate characteristics and demonstrating excellence in alignment with the school district’s goals.

A group of Plainville High School students recently joined high school students from around Connecticut to explore the Health Science Pathway through their participation in the UConn Health Biomedical Engineering Discovery Program. The students engaged in a hands-on experience of designing and constructing a heart valve facsimile from common materials and how to take blood pressure.

The Plainville Community Schools School / Business / Community Partnership program hosted "Get Hired Week" for Plainville High School students during the week of March 18th.

Sixth grade students in Laura Meehan’s Art class at the Middle School of Plainville, recently learned about Asian American Artist Jae Yong Kim and his amazing donut art. The students designed and created their own unique donut art in the form of oil pastel drawings and 3D sculptures.

Frank T. Wheeler Elementary School fourth graders showcased their innovation, creativity and problem solving skills at their “Invention Convention” held on March 14th.

A group of Plainville Board of Education members and Plainville High School students, together with Superintendent of Plainville Community Schools Brian Reas, participated in the Connecticut Association of Boards of Education (CABE) "Day on the Hill" program at The Bushnell in Hartford, Connecticut on March 13th.

This year's Townwide Band Concert was a rousing event with nine bands each performing their own music and culminating in a final, combined piece. The individual band performances highlight the growth from second year students in band through seniors in high school. This year a piece of music was commissioned by the Plainville Music Department thanks to a grant from the Elizabeth Norton Trust. The commissioned piece was dedicated to retiring Plainville High School Band Teacher, Dominic Talotta. This marked the piece's world premier and was the closing piece for the concert with about 450 instrumentalists combining their efforts in this final concert selection.

The Plainville Board of Education members were recognized as the March Plainville Community Schools “All-Star” award winners, at the March 11th Board of Education meeting, and in honor of March designated as Connecticut’s Board Member Appreciation Month. The “All-Star” award recognizes students, faculty, staff and community members who go above and beyond in modeling the school district’s Portrait of the Graduate characteristics and demonstrating excellence in alignment with the school district’s goals.

The Middle School of Plainville's Health Teachers, Melanie Olmstead and Melissa Patterson, in collaboration with K.I.M. (Kids in the Middle) program participants, organized the “Chase The Chill” clothing drive once again this year. The group collected new and gently used winter scarves, gloves, hats, mittens and coats through January 24th, and then distributed the items in local places for those who are homeless or seeking additional warmth. With the support of the Plainville Senior Center’s “Dial-A-Ride" bus and driver Ed Maskowsky, K.I.M. program student members, together with facilitators Dayna Snell and Ashley Buccelli, spread the items throughout local parks, bus stops, benches and the public library, with an attached note inviting individuals to take the items for their own use. Chase the Chill is practiced throughout the United States in support of homeless and displaced families.

Plainville Community Schools' Elementary Music Department welcomed families of students in kindergarten, first grade, and second grade to spend music class with their students at Linden, Toffolon and Wheeler schools, as part of "Music in our Schools Week", February 26 - March 1. Families observed a regular music lesson highlighting student learning, student musicianship, and music literacy, and participated in musical activities with their students. March is designated National Music in our Schools Month by the National Association for Music Education (NAfME), and via their website: "The purpose of Music In Our Schools Month is to raise awareness of the importance of music education for all children – and to remind citizens that school is where all children should have access to music."

Frank T. Wheeler Elementary School fourth graders recently visited the Connecticut Historical Society. During the visit, students participated in hands-on activities to introduce stories of moving to Connecticut. The students worked in teams to examine artifacts and documents from "immigration trunks" and uncovered many different family stories about moving to Connecticut. In the Making Connections exhibition, students tried out the kinds of jobs held by immigrant groups who arrived in Connecticut in the 19th and 20th centuries.

Plainville Community Schools' volunteer mentors and their student mentees enjoyed an evening of fun, games and even caricatures at the district's annual "Mentor Fun Night" event held at Plainville High School on February 28th! Volunteer Coordinator Sue Bradley hosted the event, which provides an opportunity for mentors and mentees to gather for a collaborative event outside of the school day.

The Frank T. Wheeler Elementary School community celebrated "Read Across America Day" on March 1st. The festivities included guest readers, parent readers, favorite book door decorating, dress like your favorite book character, Stop, Drop and Read, and more! In addition, Superior Court Judge Barry Armata visited Wheeler to read to fifth grade students.

The Linden Street School community celebrates literacy every day! Recently engaging in a week-long “Seussical” celebration of reading and writing, with themed dress up days, special guest readers, and fun filled reading challenges, Linden students beat their school-wide nightly reading goal in only three days! Students read a total of 50,213 pages at home, surpassing their goal and celebrating with a schoolwide conga line.

The Middle School's VEX Robotics Program, led by faculty member and advisor Camille Westfall, hosted the Connecticut VEX IQ State Championship at MSP on March 2nd. The Middle School group's performance was outstanding with two teams, made up of Evan Rodriguez, Ansh Patel, Ramen Kasabrukhau and Siamion Kasabrukhau, winning the top four out of five awards and qualifying to attend the 2024 VEX Robotics World Championship event in Dallas, Texas!

Plainville High School Choral Director, Todd Helming, has received a $2,500 grant to support access to live arts performances for students. The grant was made possible with the support of the State of Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development Office of the Arts, which also receives support from the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency.

The Linden Street School community celebrated “World Read Aloud Day" on February 7th. The school event was coordinated by Instructional Technology Teacher, Jessica Hartung, and featured guest readers who shared books and a visit with Linden classes.

The Plainville Board of Education is seeking nominations for the Memorial Wall of Honor, a permanent tribute to honor individuals who have contributed significant volunteer service to the educational community.

Linden Street School students recently transformed the gymnasium into a "Human Board Game." This activity allowed students to use gym equipment creatively to craft a fitness themed board game. The activity promoted physical activity along with teamwork, creativity, and problem solving skills as students navigated through their custom designed game boards. It was a fun and memorable experience for students!

On January 31st, the Linden Street School Kindergarten classes held their annual Teddy Bear Picnic! Throughout the month of January, the students read bear books and learned all about bears. To celebrate the end of "Janubeary", they invited their teddy bears into their classrooms for the day! The students wrote all about their bears, measured and compared their bears' sizes, and enjoyed a bear picnic during snack time.

The Middle School of Plainville VEX Robotics teams continue to be successful in competition. At their latest event, held at East Catholic High School on February 3rd, team members Raman and Siamion Kasabrukhau received the Vex Robotics Win for Excellence Award, Teamwork Champions Award and Robot Skills Championship Award with a score of 126. Team members Evan Rodriguez and Ansh Patel scored a first place win for the Design Award and Teamwork Champions Award! Evan and Ansh also placed second in the Robot Skills category with a score of 100. The Middle School of Plainville VEX Robotics Program is led by Advisor Camille Westfall.

The Plainville school district celebrated volunteer mentors on "Thank Your Mentor Day" with a breakfast held at Plainville High School on January 25th. January is National Mentoring Month and the perfect time to say thank you for making a difference in the life of a child. The Plainville Community Schools Mentor Program is currently in its 33rd year. Beginning with the 2024-25 school year, the State of Connecticut Law requires that children must turn five (5) years of age on or before September 1 to be eligible for kindergarten registration. Previously, the eligibility cut-off date for turning five (5) years of age for kindergarten enrollment was January 1. In response to this recent change in legislation, Plainville Community Schools has developed updated processes for both kindergarten and preschool registration as follows:

Several school district programs and initiatives received a boost this year, thanks to grants received from the local Elizabeth H. Norton Trust Fund.

The Plainville High School Physical Education Department recently hosted a "Breakfast Of Champions" for all ninth and tenth grade students who passed all four sections of the Connecticut Physical Fitness Assessment. Students in faculty member Jonathan Dunlap’s Culinary classes made breakfast for this special recognition event!

Approximately 40 Plainville High School National English Honor Society student members visited Linden Street School and Louis Toffolon Elementary School to read to first and second graders and facilitate literacy activities that the high school students designed. The elementary students wrote their own stories, worked on finding text evidence, and honed their opinion writing skills.

Louis Toffolon Elementary School's Choir, comprised of 66 fourth and fifth graders, and led by faculty member Greg Wilfrid, recently hit the road for their annual caroling field trip! Students traveled to Apple Rehab in Plainville, the Plainville Senior Center, and the Jerome Home and Arbor Rose in New Britain. They performed holiday songs and spread holiday cheer for the residents, visitors and staff. Toffolon preschoolers also made holiday cards that the Choir students handed out at the venues. This was the Toffolon Choir's first performance of the year.

Participants from the Middle School Kids In the Middle (KIM) Program recently collected hygiene items to help families in Plainville. The group filled two large boxes donated by U-Haul of Plainville. "We often think of families in need of food, but rarely remember we need supplies for our personal health," explained Plainville Youth Services and KIM Program Coordinator, Dayna Snell.

Plainville elementary school students who participate in the school district's Reading Partners Program, together with students from Plainville High School, made over 100 holiday cards for local veterans to be handed out at the Veterans Hospital in Newington, Connecticut for the holiday season. The UBI Federal Credit Union in Plainville generously donated the cards.

Linden Street School fourth graders sponsored a Toy Drive from November 27th-December 11th. Students and staff collected toys to benefit the United Way of West Central Connecticut. With over 4,000 requests for toys this year, the United Way expressed their gratitude for the generosity of Linden's students and families.

Plainville Community Schools, led by Middle School of Plainville faculty member, Karyn Bacinskas, once again participated in “PJ Day for the Kids” raising funds to support pediatric cancer research and kids fighting cancer at the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center in Hartford. This year, the Plainville school district raised over $7,835, placing the district in the Top 5 in Connecticut for fundraising again this year. Adam Rivers, a local DJ on KC 101 and Kiss 95.7, travels to schools around the state every “PJ Day,” and visited the Middle School this year! The statewide initiative, supported by schools and businesses across Connecticut, has raised over 3 million dollars since 2011.

Plainville High School students Zoe Weimer and Phillippe Brochu have been named recipients of the first semester “Student Rocks Award” recognizing their outstanding contributions to Plainville High School.

The Plainville school district has been recognized with several awards from the Connecticut Association of Boards of Education (CABE), according to Superintendent of Schools, Brian Reas. The Plainville Board of Education received the “CABE Board Leadership Award” which highlights excellence in Board Leadership / Student Achievement, Professional Development, Policy, Community Relations and Related Organizational Leadership. This awards program was created in 1998 to recognize excellence in the leadership activities of local boards of education. This is the 14th consecutive year that the Plainville Board of Education has received this award. The group was recognized at the 2023 CABE/CAPSS Convention on November 17th.

Students, staff, parents and community members had the opportunity to visit with new Plainville Superintendent of Schools, Brian Reas, at the "Superintendent's Meet & Greet" event held on November 28th at Plainville High School.

Veterans near and far were honored at all five Plainville schools on November 10th. Each school planned unique, respectful, educational programs featuring guest speakers, musical performances, poems, video tributes, artwork, refreshments and more. Veteran guests visited each school and participated in the special programming.

Nine students from the Middle School of Plainville along with faculty member / advisor, Camille Westfall, traveled to Cabela’s in East Hartford to participate in a leadership training event, hosted by the Connecticut TSA (Technology Student Association). The Plainville students joined peer members from across Connecticut for the training event. The students participated in discussions and activities designed to improve their leadership skills, and several MSP students won prizes for their outstanding performance during the day.

Plainville High School students explored a wide variety of careers during the Career Focused Learning Adventure Day held on November 8th! Aligned with the 16 National Career Clusters, student groups participated in several curated sessions featuring visits to host sites across the state, hands on career related activities, vocational speaker panels, and much more.

The Middle School of Plainville community was very excited to host, for the first time, the Plainville-based organization, "Grit 'N Wit" on October 27th. The Grit 'N Wit group provided an inclusive, engaging experience for 7th- and 8th-graders that encouraged students to overcome an equal number of physical and mental challenges. This experience supported the Plainville Community Schools Portrait of the Graduate tenets of being: Collaborative; Communicative; Innovative; Mindful, and Resilient.

Plainville Community Schools will hold a “Meet & Greet” open house on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, from 5:30 PM to 7:00PM in the Plainville High School Learning Commons. Parents, students, staff and community members will have the opportunity to meet new Superintendent of Schools, Brian Reas.

The Hartford Wolfpack Organization with mascot "Sonar" recently visited the classrooms of Frank T. Wheeler Elementary School faculty members Samantha Woodward and Sarah Miller to share backpack prizes for their students. The Wolfpack group held a contest over the summer asking individuals to nominate their favorite teachers. They received many nominations, and both Samantha and Sarah were selected as winners!

Members of the Middle School of Plainville's Art Helper’s Club, led by Faculty member Laura Meehan, recently attended a field trip to the New Britain Museum of American Art. Students were able to experience a guided tour of the museum's Contemporary Art collection. The students participated in discussions about art, and had the opportunity to create their own unique piece of art inspired by the museum collection. The Art Helpers Club is a group of Middle School students who meet twice a month to create community service based art projects.

A group of Middle School of Plainville students, together with faculty members Camille Westfall and Kim Coyle, explored careers in Aerospace Manufacturing at the ACM Manufacturing Expo. The students were able to network with representatives from a number of aerospace related manufacturers to ask questions and learn about careers in the field.

The Middle School of Plainville's VEX Robotics Program, led by faculty member and advisor Camille Westfall, soared in their first competition of the season held on November 3rd in Madison, Ct. Raman and Siamion Kasabrukhau won the Excellence Award, a Teamwork Award, and the Autonomous Skills Award. Ansh Patel and Evan Rodriguez also won a Teamwork Award. Together, the two teams had the highest scores of the tournament, placing first and second out of 19 teams.

Students, families and faculty at the Middle School of Plainville came together in October for a night of fun and creativity at MSP’s “Chilln’ With My Gnomies” Paint Night. The participants created unique, hand painted ceramic gnomes. This event was a fundraiser hosted by Middle School Art Teacher Laura Meehan and MSP’s Parent Teacher Club. Proceeds from the paint night went to support the Middle School's recent "Grit and Wit" event.

The Plainville Community Schools Preschool Program has earned re-accreditation from the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), according to Superintendent of Schools, Brian Reas.

Eleven Plainville students received the Connecticut Association of Public School Superintendents’ (CAPSS) Superintendent / Student Recognition Award and Certificate of Excellence at the annual Superintendent’s Award Presentation held on October 27th, during a luncheon at J. Timothy’s Restaurant.

Students in the Plainville Adult and Continuing Education Program are participating in a Financial Literacy educational series sponsored by M & T Bank in Plainville. Representatives from M & T Bank are facilitating the sessions for the Adult Education students in both the fall and spring semesters.

A group of Plainville High School students spent the day exploring Goodwin University and the world of manufacturing at the Goodwin University Manufacturing Pentathlon & Expo held on October 4th. The event, part of National Manufacturing Month activities, featured teams of students from various school districts who participated in a tour of the university facilities, followed by a series of interactive STEM related activities!

Students in Laura Meehan’s Art class at Middle School of Plainville were recently surprised with a generous donation from the Plainville Rotary Club. The Rotary Club members collected and donated art supplies and personal care items for Middle School students. Mrs. Meehan is the creator and organizer of the school's “Giving Shelf”. The donations from the Rotary Club will fill the “Giving Shelf” with a variety of products for any student with a need. Mrs. Meehan and her students were overwhelmed with the generosity and support of the Plainville Rotary Club's donation and the positive impact it is having on the students.

Plainville High School senior Cohen Blake has been named a “Commended Student” in the 2024 National Merit Scholarship Program

Plainville Community Schools' Volunteer Coordinator Sue Bradley hosted a "Welcome Back" breakfast for the school district's volunteer mentors on September 20th.

Linden Street School students and staff recently gathered in the school's gymnasium for their first "Town Meeting" of the 2023-2024 school year. Linden fifth graders read "Have You Filled a Bucket Today?" and taught the school community about showing kindness and respect.

Plainville Board of Education Member Laurie Peterson was honored at the September 11th Board Of Education meeting. Laurie “retired” after 10 years of volunteer service as a board member for Plainville Community Schools.

Plainville High School has earned high national and metro area rankings via the 2023-2024 U. S. News & World Report’s “Best High Schools” report, according to Interim Superintendent of Schools, Kevin Case. The rankings evaluate close to 18,000 public high schools at the national, state and local levels. By earning a national ranking in the top 40%, Plainville High School achieved status as a U.S. News Best High School.

The Plainville High School Cheerleading Team kicked off the school district's 2023-24 Convocation program held on August 28th, welcoming faculty and staff members back to school!

Superintendent of East Haddam, Connecticut public schools, Brian Reas, has been named the next superintendent for Plainville Community Schools, according to Plainville Board of Education Chair, Lori Consalvo. Reas will replace Interim Superintendent of Schools, Kevin Case.

Plainville Board of Education member, Crystal St. Lawrence, recently achieved the level of Certified Board of Education Member in the Connecticut Association of Boards of Education (CABE) Board Member Academy for the 2022-2023 school year.

Students in Theresa Chew's class recently enjoyed a fun, interactive math lesson as part of the Plainville Community Schools RAMP Summer Program.

Kindergarteners in Mrs. Keating's RAMP summer program class recently enjoyed a "letter hunt" in their classroom. After finding the letter cards around the classroom, they put them in order to continue practicing the alphabet!

Assistant Superintendent of Plainville Community Schools / guest reader Dave Levenduski, and first graders in Emma Bartley's class in the RAMP summer program, recently enjoyed a good book on a hot day!

Soon to be retired Superintendent of the Canton, Connecticut public school district, Kevin Case, has been named interim superintendent of Plainville Community Schools, according to Plainville Board of Education Chair, Lori Consalvo.

Plainville High School Assistant Principal Jennifer DeLorenzo, has been named principal of the high school and Plainville High School Counselor Kelly Hickey, has been named assistant principal of the high school, according to Superintendent of Schools, Steven LePage. DeLorenzo will replace current Principal Carl Johnson, who has accepted a position outside of the school district.

CZR Reptiles recently visited the Linden Street School community with a variety of reptiles! Students were provided with an informative and interactive presentation about two young tortoises, a bearded dragon, a baby alligator, and four snakes.

Students in Allison Pascucci's second grade class at Louis Toffolon Elementary School recently enjoyed "camping" via a tent project that the class constructed, turning their classroom reading celebration into “Camp I Want To Read” for two days.

Plainville Community Schools has named Plainville High School Math Teacher Mikayla Wells as the 2023-2024 Teacher of the Year. Wells was nominated by Plainville High School faculty member Eileen Hebert.

Plainville High School students recently extended their career pathways exploration with local community partners. 22 students spent the day at the Hospital of Central Connecticut during a "Health Sciences Career Day" visit hosted by Hartford Healthcare. The students were able to tour several departments within the hospital and speak with a variety of professionals.
