The Plainville school district's Reading Partners program received a generous donation from the UBI Federal Credit Union, to purchase books for this year's holiday event for program participants. Now in its 27th year, the Reading Partners program continues to foster a love of reading among Plainville elementary school students. MSP Group Visits New Britain Museum of American Art

Middle School of Plainville art students together with faculty members Laura Meehan and Lori Vigue recently visited the New Britain Museum of American Art. The students participated in an educational tour and art discussions focused on works by influential American women artists, learning about their contributions to the art world. The day concluded with a creative printmaking workshop, where the students got hands-on experience, drawing inspiration from the pieces they had seen throughout the museum to design and create their own original works of art.

They include: Middle School of Plainville faculty members Jemima Armistead and Kim Coyle. The “All-Star” award recognizes students, faculty, staff and community members who go above and beyond in modeling the school district’s Portrait of the Graduate characteristics and demonstrating excellence in alignment with the school district's goals.

"Octoberfest" at MSP!
"Octoberfest" at MSP!

The Middle School of Plainville's seventh graders enjoyed an "Octoberfest" on October 30th. Throughout the day, students participated in a variety of activities aligned to various subject areas including Pumpkin Globe painting (Social Studies) , writing letters to members of the Plainville Senior Center (English Language Arts), Scale-a-Skeleton (Math) and making Slime (Science). The Octoberfest activities were made possible thanks to donations and support from Lessard Lanes, Stew Leonards, and PHS Class of 1963 alumnus, Mr. James Pestillo .

Middle School Group Attends 2025 Aerospace Alley Future Workforce Opportunities Fair

A group of Middle School of Plainville students, together with faculty members Camille Westfall and Kim Coyle, attended the 2025 Aerospace Alley Future Workforce Opportunities Fair hosted by Aerospace Components Manufacturers on October 30th. The event is designed to engage middle and high school students, sparking their interest in modern manufacturing and careers within the Aerospace industry. Students were able to speak with representatives from over 100 local aerospace companies, gain insight into employer expectations, and explore cutting edge manufacturing technologies.

Wheeler Fourth Graders Enjoy Author Visit

Frank T. Wheeler Elementary School fourth graders recently enjoyed a visit from guest author, Millicent Sutton. The book that she published is entitled "The Misadventures of Minnie the Monarch, Journey to the Butterfly Forest." Even more special about the visit is Wheeler Monitor, Sharon Gianinni, served as editor of the book, working with Ms. Sutton. The book, which is geared toward fourth graders, is a touching story about overcoming great obstacles and the power of friendship. It describes the three thousand mile trek that butterflies take, known as the Great Migration.

Wheeler Students Enjoy Fire Safety Visitors

Frank T. Wheeler Elementary School Pre-K and Kindergarten students recently enjoyed an exciting visit from the local Plainville Fire Department. The students were able to explore a real fire truck, meet the firefighters, and learn about fire safety. The children loved hearing the sirens, seeing the equipment up close, and asking questions about the important work firefighters do every day.

Linden Street School hallways were filled with future nurses, veterinarians, police officers, artists, NFL players, and more on October 3rd.

Plainville High School hosted its 4th annual Career Gallery event on October 3rd. More than 120 professionals (including many alumni) from businesses and organizations throughout Connecticut were on hand to share information about their vocational pathways with students. Students in each grade cycled through the high school's gymnasium to meet and talk with the guests throughout the morning.

Plainville Adult and Continuing Education Holds Graduation and Awards Ceremony

Plainville Adult and Continuing Education (PACE) celebrated student achievements during their annual Graduation and Awards Ceremony at Plainville High School on June 10, 2025. Among those recognized were five Adult High School Credit Diploma Program Graduates, two General Educational Development (GED) Preparation Program Graduates, and recipients of Academic Excellence certificates, from the following programs: English as a Second Language, Adult Basic Education, Citizenship Preparation, and the Adult High School Credit Diploma Program. Superintendent Brian Reas, Assistant Superintendent David Levenduski, and Board of Education members Foster White and Jered Bruzas participated in the celebration, while Nicholas Herdzik, 2023 PACE Alumnus, delivered an inspirational Keynote Address. "Nash the Police Dog" Visits Wheeler Career Week!

"Nash the Police Dog" recently visited Frank T. Wheeler Elementary School with Officer Tony to spread smiles and share some friendly pets, as part of Wheeler’s “Career Week.” The Career Week event featured a number of guest speakers who shared information about their individual career paths with Wheeler students. Wheeler Kindergarten students met Nash and Officer Tony and learned about Nash’s role as a certified comfort dog. Nash works with law enforcement to provide emotional support in schools, senior centers, and other community spaces. Nash and Officer Tony gave students a unique look at how police dogs support both public safety and community well-being.
