Plainville Family Resource Network
The
Plainville Family Resource Network (PFRN) is a school, family, and
community partnership working to help children grow and acquire literacy
skills for a lifetime love of learning. The PFRN provides educational
programs for children birth through elementary school age. It also
provides programs for childcare givers and for parents.
PLAY & LEARN GROUPS
The Plainville Family Resource Network is located at Linden Street School and is available for all Plainville families. Children birth to age 5 are
welcome to attend with a parent, grandparent, childcare provider or
other responsible adult. The mixed age group provides children with many
social and language development opportunities. Parents have
opportunities to play with their children and to interact with other
parents. They may also borrow books, videos and other parenting
information from a small lending library.

PARENTS AS TEACHERS
Parents
as Teachers (PAT) program provides education and support to families
from pregnancy through age 5. Parents are supported by PAT certified
parent educators trained to translate scientific research on early brain
development into specific when, what, how, and why information for
families. By understanding what to expect during each stage of
development, parents can easily capture the teachable moments in
everyday life to enhance their child's language development,
intellectual growth, social development, and motor skills. Home and
personal visits available to meet the individual needs of each family.
Call the PFRN to schedule your first visit: 860-793-6304
TURNING THREE
The
Pre-K Developmental Screening is offered to all Plainville
children ages 3 to 5. It is an opportunity for parents to have their
child observed by the Early Childhood Team to insure that development is
progressing smoothly. Parents are invited to share any concerns that
they may have regarding their child's development. Our professional team
can offer information to assist parents in determining how to best meet
their child's needs. Staff members will be available to discuss the
screen and our continuum of services. Information about school and
community resources will also be provided. For additional information, contact your neighborhood school.
