Plainville Community Schools’ Food Services Director, Ashley Carl, has been named the 2023-24 School Nutrition Association of Connecticut, (SNACT) Director of the Year, according to Superintendent of Schools, Brian Reas.
Carl was nominated and evaluated by her peers in school nutrition, who agreed that she exemplifies the best of Connecticut’s child nutrition programs through professionalism, program innovations and advocacy for child nutrition in Connecticut, according to the award announcement from SNACT.
Carl will be honored at SNACT’s Award Ceremony on November 21st. As the Connecticut state winner, she will also be recognized by the national School Nutrition Association (SNA) during a virtual ceremony on April 30th. The celebration of SNA winners continues through School Lunch Hero Day on May 3rd, as well as in a digital publication to be released in July.
“I am honored to receive this award through the School Nutrition Association of CT. My passion for ensuring every student receives nutritious meals each day and fostering healthy habits among our students is what drives me daily,” said Carl.
“Ashley has a passion for the wellbeing of our students. For her, it is a mission as well as a job and our community continually benefits. As it's said about making a difference in children's lives, ‘You can count the seeds in an apple, but not the apples in a seed’," added Director of Business and Operations, Sam Adlerstein.
“We are incredibly proud of Mrs. Carl for this achievement,” noted Superintendent Reas.
