New Plainville High School Administrators Announced

New High School Administrators

Plainville High School Assistant Principal Jennifer DeLorenzo, has been named principal of the high school and Plainville High School Counselor Kelly Hickey, has been named assistant principal of the high school, according to Superintendent of Schools, Steven LePage.  DeLorenzo will replace current Principal Carl Johnson, who has accepted a position outside of the school district.

Jen Delorenzo DeLorenzo began her career as a math teacher at Plainville High School in 2001, served as a mathematics instructional leader at the high school, and became assistant principal in 2019. She is a member of the National Educators Association (NEA) , the Connecticut High School Coaches Association (CHSCA) and the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASS).

She holds a bachelor of science degree from Providence College, a master of science education degree from Walden University, and a  sixth year / 092 certification from Sacred Heart University. 

DeLorenzo was appointed unanimously by the Plainville Board of Education and will begin in her role as principal on July 1st.

Kelly Hickey Hickey has served as a school counselor at Plainville High School since 2013. Prior to that, she served as a school counseling intern and graduation interventionist at Middletown High School and Woodrow Wilson Middle School. Hickey has served on several school committees, and in many additional capacities at Plainville High School including her role as the PHS Edgenuity coordinator, co-coach of the Unified Sports program, Class of 2022 co-advisor, and previously as a co-advisor for the yearbook, PSAT coordinator, and PHS homebound tutor coordinator.

She holds a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Connecticut, a master of school counseling degree from Central Connecticut State University and a sixth year / 092 certification from Quinnipiac University.

Hickey was chosen from an extensive pool of candidates. The interview process included an initial screening round, followed by a second round of interviews with finalists, from which she was ultimately selected as the candidate of choice. 

Hickey will begin in her role as assistant principal on July 1st.

Their combined experiences in serving children in multiple ways and from varied backgrounds will combine and be of great benefit to students. I’m optimistic for the continued and expanded excellence at Plainville High School in the future, and wish them both the absolute best in their leadership journeys,” said Superintendent of Schools, Steven LePage.
