Sarah Clark
Submitted: January 13th, 2025
Sarah Clark is a paraprofessional at Plainville High School. She began working in my Spanish 1 classroom in October 2024, and has made the most incredible difference in the lives of my students and has contributed to their success in such a meaningful way. She is communicative with parents, myself, and our students' case manager - always making sure that she is up to speed on assignments and ways she can help our kids receive the support they need. She collaborates with myself regularly, trying to see new ways that we can engage our students and provide funny examples. She is always willing to laugh with me or take a chance on what could be a silly idea. She is innovative in every classroom I have seen her in, trying new methods of motivation that engage even the most off task student - and is always extremely respectful to the classroom teacher in that her methods do not interfere with learning or the classroom environment. I have seen students test her, and push back when she is trying to help them. She meets them where they are, and knows when to give them space. Every time the student comes back to her for extra help. Sarah is new to the education field, and is studying to receive her degree. She has the intrinsic ability to help students through empathy and patience. I believe she deserves all of the acknowledgement and more, as she is such an incredible addition to our school.

The RISE team, with a brand new teacher and social worker, has collaborated very quickly this year to build a nurturing, safe, predictable program where students are showing incredible resilience in their ability to overcome social emotional barriers to learning. Elizabeth Rosenthal has created a structured, community-based learning environment and plans creative, project based, differentiated lessons tailored to her students interests and needs. Students come to RISE excited to learn and eager to participate in each day's activities and lessons. Stacia Montague, RISE social worker, has developed close professional rapport with both students and families, bridging the gap between home and school and supporting families in helping their students access learning while building trust in the RISE program. Fran Baci and Jamie Hass work tirelessly and wherever they are needed to collaborate with the RISE team and help students access instruction, always taking time notice the good and boost student's self esteem. As a result, we have seen tremendous growth in RISE students and an overall improvement in the climate of the program, allowing RISE students to spend more time in the general education environment.
