The Plainville school district has been recognized with two awards from the Connecticut Association of Boards of Education (CABE), according to Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Maureen Brummett.

The Plainville Board of Education received CABE's highest leadership recognition; the CABE Board of Distinction Award - Level 2. This award is presented to school districts in Connecticut that meet a comprehensive set of criteria in the following categories: board leadership / student achievement, board member professional development, policy, community relations, and related organizational leadership. According to CABE, this award has been established to appropriately recognize boards of education which are truly exemplary. Only boards which have achieved Level 1 distinction at least twice in the prior four years are eligible to receive the Board of Distinction Award. This is the ninth consecutive year the Plainville Board of Education has received this award. The CABE Board of Distinction Award – Level 2 was presented during the CABE Convention Leadership Awards Reception held on November 17th. “The Board of Education received special acknowledgement for earning the CABE leadership award for nine consecutive years. This rare achievement is something to be very proud of and a testament to the Board's commitment to our schools,” noted Superintendent Brummett.

Plainville Community Schools also received a 2017 CABE Excellence in Educational Communications Award. In recognition of the good work that is being done on a daily basis, CABE established the Awards of Excellence for Educational Communications in 1975. This year, Plainville Community Schools’ social media effort in launching a district Twitter account was recognized with an honorable mention in the Social Media awards category.

“Plainville Community Schools recognizes the importance of a positive and comprehensive communication plan. The launch of Twitter last year and the redesign of our website this year, exemplify our commitment to communicating effectively with our stakeholders. I would like to thank Lynn Davis, Director of Community Relations, for her tireless efforts that ensure we excel in this area,” added Dr. Brummett.
