Plainville Community Schools Celebrates Groundbreaking for Middle School Renovate Like New Project
Plainville Community Schools hosted a ground breaking ceremony on August 20th for the "Renovate-Like-New" project at the Middle School of Plainville (MSP). School administrators, local town officials, state legislators, and project partners gathered at the school to mark the commencement of the transformative construction phase.
The ceremony opened with welcoming remarks from MSP Principal, Aimee Roberts, who highlighted the positive impact the updated facility will have on student learning and community pride. Remarks followed from key educational and municipal leaders and partners, including Brian Reas, Superintendent of Schools, Foster White, Plainville Board of Education Chair, Andy Cirioli, Assistant Town Manager, Christopher Wazorko, Plainville Town Council Chair, State Senator Henri Martin, State Representative Rebecca Martinez, Nicole DeMaio, Vice President of Business Development at Downes Construction, and Brian Solywoda, CEO of Kaestle Boos Associates (KBA).
Speakers emphasized the collaborative community effort required to bring the modernized facility plan to life, pointing to the project as a critical investment in the town's future.
Following the addresses, speakers, guests and MSP mascot “Devi” donned hard hats and gathered for the traditional ceremonial dirt toss, symbolically kicking off construction.
The comprehensive renovation will update the middle school's infrastructure, enhance safety protocols, and create modern, adaptable learning spaces tailored to 21st-century educational standards. Construction is slated to proceed in phased stages to minimize disruption to school operations.
