MSP Students Honor Artist with Drawings
Posted on 02/22/2022
Middle School of Plainville sixth graders in Laura Meehan’s Art classes recently created  oil pastel cake drawings in honor of American artist Wayne Thiebaud, who passed away on December 25th, 2021 at the age of 101. Thiebaud was a painter best known for his colorful works depicting commonplace objects like pies, cakes, paint cans and ice cream cones.  The students learned how to create the illusion of light and shadow in their cakes, and how to apply thick oil pastel to look like frosting.
