Students may register for school at any time during the year. All transfers from other school districts into Plainville must present a birth certificate, visa or passport within two weeks from the date of entry into the Plainville schools. Students must also furnish a list of immunization shots in accordance with school board regulations. If the immunizations are not up to date as outlined by school health policy and regulations, the student may be denied entry. Families must provide evidence of residency in Plainville by completing required district residency verification documents prior to enrollment in Plainville Schools. (Some exceptions to this regulation are outlined with respect to homeless students outplaced due to natural disasters. See Policy 5111.1 for further details.)

Students will ordinarily be placed with other children of the same age, but may be placed in another group by the principal with approval of the superintendent. Students may be placed with a group more than a year older or younger only upon approval by the superintendent.

A student moving from one attendance district to another within the town shall be given a transfer to the school of the district in which he/she moves. In an unusual case a student may be given a special transfer from the school of his/her attendance district to another district upon approval of the superintendent.

A student withdrawing from the district must return any district property i.e. books and pay any obligations to the district. Written parental consent is not required before records may be sent to the receiving district. Parents must receive notification that records are sent if they do not give written authorization. Student records will be sent within 10 days of receiving request from receiving district.
