Each employee has the responsibility to maintain good attendance and is expected to use good judgment in managing absences from work. However, excessive or habitual attendance problems can lead to the inability of the employee to meet work goals and the inability of our school system to meet its obligations to its students.

Employees should request time off in advance whenever possible, and in all cases should notify their Administrator of the need to be absent or late, prior to the start of the established work day. Failure to report to work or to contact their administrator may be considered to be a voluntary resignation. In addition to contacting their building Administrator all certified employees are required to contact the substitute service and indicate if a substitute is required.

Any absence, even if approved, may be unpaid unless accrued Earned Time Off is available. All staff absent for jury duty must submit documentation to their building Administrator prior to their duty, and submit a receipt after their duty is complete.

Excessive or habitual absenteeism may be grounds for disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.
