School Counselor, Grade 7
COUNSELING WORKSHOPS:
At various times throughout the school year, the school counselors deliver Counseling Workshops in the classroom to help students with academic, personal/social, and career development.
The workshops for the 7th Grade are:
Career Matchmaker & Learning Styles - Students will further explore careers utilizing Career Cruising including review of their Grade 6 Career Matchmaker results and delving further into their skills and how that correlates with careers of interest.
GROUP COUNSELING:
Various groups will be offered to students to participate in throughout the year. The groups are held for a variety of reasons such as: improving social skills, improving self-esteem, stress management skills, academic success skills, etc.
INDIVIDUAL PLANNING:
Counselor check-ins take place throughout the school year with each 7th grade student. These interviews are conducted in order to assist each student with establishing future goals and to identify activities, interests, strengths/weaknesses and likes/dislikes.
ABOUT MR. TERRANOVA:
Mr. Terranova has begun the third year of his school counseling career here at MSP, and enters the role with close to 21 years of experience working with students, children, and adolescents working in athletics. He received his Masters in Counseling at Central Connecticut State University in 2016, while working in college athletics as a men's and women's tennis coach. Most recently, Mr. Terranova finished a substitute position at Sedgwick Middle School in West Hartford. He received his bachelor's from Saint Michael's College in Colchester VT. He is a professional member of the Connecticut School Counselor Association.
