The 6th grade has two teams:
The Adventurers & The Explorers
COUNSELING WORKSHOPS:
At various times throughout the school year, the school counselors deliver Counseling Workshops in the classroom to help students with academic, personal/social, and career development. The workshops for the 6th Grade are:
All About Me - Students will learn what the role of the School Counselor is in their building and will complete a survey called "All About Me"
Career Matchmaker - Students will complete a career interest inventory using Career Cruising and learn about careers that match their interests.
GROUP COUNSELING:
Various groups will be offered to students to participate in throughout the year. The groups are held for a variety of reasons such as: improving social skills, improving self-esteem, stress management skills, academic success skills, etc.
INDIVIDUAL PLANNING:
Individual planning interviews take place throughout the school year with each 6th Grade student to assist them with establishing future goals and to identify activities, interests, strengths/weaknesses, and likes/dislikes.
ABOUT MR. TERRANOVA:
Mr. Terranova has begun the second year of his school counseling career here at MSP, and enters the role with close to 20 years of experience working with students, children, and adolescents working in athletics. He received his Masters in Counseling at Central Connecticut State University in 2016, while working in college athletics as a men's and women's tennis coach. Most recently, Mr. Terranova finished a substitute position at Sedgwick Middle School in West Hartford. He received his bachelor's from Saint Michael's College in Colchester VT. He is a professional member of the Connecticut School Counselor Association.
