Carl Johnson, former Assistant Principal at Plainville High School, has been named Principal, according to Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Maureen Brummett.

Plainville High School hosted an “Athletic Celebration” on June 19th for six seniors who will be going on to play collegiate athletics. The event was organized by Plainville Community Schools’ Athletic Director Chris Farrell.

Nine Plainville Community Schools' retirees were recognized at the June 11th Plainville Board of Education meeting for their many years of service. They include: Pamela Gervasio - Spanish Teacher, Plainville High School, Gary Feltt, Science Teacher, Middle School of Plainville, Barbara Fawcett - Special Education Teacher, Middle School of Plainville, Carol Von Achen, Special Education Teacher, Middle School of Plainville, Bernadette Knowles, Special Education Teacher, Linden Street School, Sophie Morse, Tutor, Middle School of Plainville, Denise Ciano, Custodian, Linden Street School, Debra Gurski, Office Professional, Plainville High School, and Laura Boland, Paraprofessional, Louis Toffolon Elementary School.

Dattco representatives visited Plainville High School to speak with students about their internship and apprenticeship programs this year. Currently, three Plainville High School graduates are participating in the apprenticeship program and two graduating seniors will participate in the internship program. In addition, a group of Plainville High School students recently participated in a field trip to Dattco to explore the field of diesel mechanics.

Plainville Community Schools’ annual Volunteer Recognition Dinner and Awards Program was held on May 10th, at Plainville High School. This year's theme was “Country Hoedown.” More than 100 school volunteers, Board of Education members, administrators and staff were present to enjoy an evening of food, friends, and recognition.

Community members participated in Spring Floral Arrangement-- one of the many enrichment programs provided by Plainville Adult and Continuing Education.

The Plainville High School's Interact Club (the youth branch of the local Rotary Club in Plainville) recently hosted the 6th annual Senior Citizen Prom in the school's cafeteria.

Twelve elementary school musicians represented Plainville Community Schools on April 20th at the Connecticut Elementary Honors Choir Festival! This festival is part of the Connecticut Music Educators Association (CMEA) Conference held in Hartford, Connecticut.

The New Britain Museum of American art recently hosted an exhibit of creative artworks from the students of Plainville Community Schools.

On February 26th, the 2nd Annual Plainville Community Schools’ Board of Education/Administrator/Faculty/Parent vs. Unified Basketball Team game was held.

The Plainville High School Jazz Band recently participated in the Berklee College of Music’s Annual High School Jazz Festival.

The local VFW Madeley-Roberts Post No. 574 recently sponsored the Plainville Community Schools Reading Partners program

The Plainville High School Visual Arts Department is proud to announce that four students were selected to receive honors in the 29th Annual Connecticut Scholastic Art Awards in the areas of Drawing and Illustration.

Plainville High School once again hosted the “Go Baby Go" event December 1st & 2nd, during which toy ride-on cars for children with special needs were modified, refurbished, and presented to local families

Plainville Community Schools has received a grant from the Community Foundation of Greater New Britain, according to Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Maureen Brummett. The $10,000 grant will fund a job coach position in a newly formed alternative high school program, to be launched at Plainville High School in 2018.

The Plainville school district has been recognized with two awards from the Connecticut Association of Boards of Education (CABE), according to Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Maureen Brummett.

Students in David Marchesani’s Transportation Education classes at Plainville High School have completed the refurbishment of a batch of bicycles as part of a community collaboration project with the Plainville Police Department and the Plainville Community Food Pantry.

Plainville Community Schools held a number of activities and programs across the school district on November 10th, to honor and recognize veterans.

On October 28th students, family, & community members from the three Plainville elementary schools participated in the Plainville “Monster Dash” held on the grounds of the Middle School.

Twelve Plainville students received the Connecticut Association of Public School Superintendents’ (CAPSS) Superintendent / Student Recognition Award and Certificate of Excellence at the 30th annual Superintendent’s Award Presentation held on Friday, November 3rd, during a luncheon at J. Timothy’s Restaurant.

Plainville High School DECA members and faculty member / DECA Advisor Trevira Boatright, recently attended the CT DECA Fall Leadership Conference held at the University of New Haven.

Students in all grades at Wheeler School celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15-October15) by learning about Hispanic artists and art traditions from Hispanic countries.

Plainville Blue Devils senior baseball players Dylan Morrell and Nathan Michalek have been selected to participate on the Goodwill Series American baseball team to compete in the 12 game Goodwill Series to be held in Adelaide, Australia and Auckland, New Zealand

Frank T. Wheeler Elementary School fourth grade teacher Cheryl Michaud recently won a variety of school supplies through a drawing sponsored by the Jeff Brown Insurance Agency located in Plainville.

Plainville Community Schools will be conducting preschool screenings for children 3 to 5 years old on October 6, 2017, January 19, 2018 and April 20, 2018.

The Plainville Family Resource Network (PFRN) has received a grant from the Community Foundation of Greater New Britain to continue learning throughout the summer, according to PFRN Coordinator, Donna Cavallaro.

Patterson was nominated by colleagues Amy Tennant, Rob Silliman, and Cindy Birdsall, who outlined a variety of attributes attesting to her qualifications for the award, and describing her as exceptional.

Plainville Adult and Continuing Education received a grant award distribution of $1,525.00 from the Plainville Community Fund II at the Main Street Community Foundation to support a "Customer Service and Sales Certification Training Program" to be held this fall. This funding will make available 15 (needs-based) scholarships for Plainville residents.

There will be an orientation for parents and children who are registered for the 2017-2018 Plainville Community Schools Preschool Program at each of the three Plainville elementary schools on Monday, June 5, 2017.
