Construction Update Message from Mrs. Logoyke

The building project is going well.  The project is still on schedule.  We are still planning for a January 2009 return.  I always enjoy getting a chance to go over to Toffolon to peek in to see the progress.  The inside is just about unrecognizable.  The hallways and classrooms are stripped.  In a few cases walls have been removed or changed to make way for new teaching spaces, offices, bathrooms, the elevator, and alterations to classrooms.  I was especially happy to see all the old classroom heating units are gone.  They were noisy and never worked very well anyways!   If you've driven by lately you can't help noticing that the old kindergarten rooms out front are gone.  Currently, that area is being dug out to reinforce the foundation for the new library.  Also, you can't miss all the earth moving that is going on to create the new bus driveway.  I can't tell you how happy I am that we will have a safe drop-off that separates pedestrians, cars and buses!  Out in back, the new art and music rooms are laid out, along with the band room on the east side. When I think about the Toffolon building of the future I can't help but smile.  Of course, the people in a building make a school great.  But, I also believe that an investment in a new, bright, well heated, safe and healthy school building tells children that our town believes that schools are important places where great futures are made.  I know I do!
