Click here to take a virtual tour of our school. August 19, 2009 Dear Friends, We are looking forward to another great year at Linden Street School. It has been a very busy summer! We had summer school at Linden and it was wonderful to continue having students and staff in the building. It was very successful and we know that over a hundred students will return to school having reinforced some great strategies in reading and math. I hope that all of our children have been reading over the summer and that they will bring back their completed sheets for the “Governor’s Reading Challenge”. I am excited to find out the total number of books read by the Linden students. Our upper grade students received some math review to complete also. We are returning to our custom of celebrating the first day of school with a brief gathering in the gym at 8:45 a.m. on September 1st. You are all welcome to join us. We are asking all students to report to the gym by 8:45 a.m., where they will meet their new teachers. All of the teachers have been to school already preparing their classrooms for the arrival of their new classes and I must say they are very excited! I would like to let you all know that we are very pleased with the results of the Connecticut Mastery Test. We have made some excellent growth as a result of the consistent efforts of our students and staff. We are elated! The results will be sent home soon. I will be preparing a presentation for a fall PTO meeting, which you will hear more about. I am so proud of our students and staff. Thanks also to you supporting and encouraging your students- we have a wonderful partnership and I look forward to continuing this. Happy New Year!
