The 6th Grade has 2 teams:
COUNSELING WORKSHOPS:
At various times throughout the school year, the school counselors deliver Counseling Workshops in the classroom to help students with academic, personal/social, and career development. The workshops for the 6th Grade are: 
All About Me - Students will learn what the role of the School Counselor is in their building and will complete a survey called "All About Me"  on their personal Naviance account.

My Goals- Students will create Academic, Career and Social/Emotional/Physical Development goals in Naviance.

What's Your Learning Style? - Students will complete an assessment in Career Cruising and learn about their particular learning style and explore careers that are connected to their learning style.

Respect for Differences - Students will the importance of respecting differences in others and treating others kindly.

SPECIAL COUNSELING DAYS:
Day of Caring - Students, teachers, and the School Counselor celebrate a Day of Caring participating in activities that focus on Kindness, Empathy, and Caring for Self & Others.

GROUP COUNSELING:
Various groups will be offered to students to participate in throughout the school year. The groups are held for a variety of reasons such as: improving social skills, improving self-esteem, coping with family changes, coping with grief, managing anger, etc.
INDIVIDUAL PLANNING:
Individual planning interviews take place throughout the school year with each 6th grade student. These interviews are conducted in order to assist each student with establishing future goals and to identify activities, interests, strengths/weaknesses and likes/dislikes.


ABOUT MRS. RODRIGUEZ:
Mrs. Rodriguez has more than 25 years of experience working with children, adolescents, and their families. She has been a school counselor at the Middle School of Plainville for the past 15 years and is certified as a school counselor through the State of Connecticut. Mrs. Rodriguez earned her Master of Science degree in Counseling from Central Connecticut State University and her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Connecticut. She is a professional member of the Connecticut School Counselor Association.
