Welcome to the Plainville High School School Counseling Department's website!

The services of the School Counseling Department are an integral part of the total educational program and are provided to assist students in their academic, personal/social and career development. Systematic activities are carried out to help students achieve success in these three areas. The School Counseling Department incorporates the following expectations in order to achieve this goal.

School Counseling Vision

Empower students to define and achieve personal success in an ever-changing diverse society through our theories of action:
1. If we teach students how to self-assess their social/emotional needs then they will be able to seek support services that will allow them to develop a mature, healthy perspective of self and their community
2. If we teach students how to recognize their personal traits and characteristics then they will be able to make informed decisions regarding the pursuit of a career that is appropriate to their personality
3. If we teach students how to create a S.M.A.R.T. educational plan then they will be able to implement the mechanisms required to achieve their educational goals
4. If we provide parents with information then they will be able to make informed decisions regarding their child's education.
