Bill Petit opened the floor to citizen comments:
Tom Lazou, 22 Beechwood Rd. Mr. Lazou stated his concerns regarding the last submitted Linden plan which was estimated at $22 million. He stated that the state will reimburse for 65,000 square feet but that the former plan was for approximately 80,000 square feet. He is questioning why the square footage seems to be increasing. Mr. Lazou also communicated to the committee that he felt that using the basements of Linden and the Middle School for storage would be a terrible waste of space as they could be used for classrooms.
Walt Majsak, 11 Broad St., Mr. Majsak stated that the plan does not specifically show what will be done with the basement level of Linden Street School.
Kathleen Lazou, 22 Beechwood Rd., explained that she realizes the school district will be expanding, but has heard that most of the increase will be in the Toffolon area. She questioned how the Linden Street School project would alleviate overcrowding at Toffolon. She also expressed her concerns about the increase in busing costs if there would be redistricting.
