Attendees: Rich Ireland, Kate Lawson, Jack Mastrianni, Gail Millerick, Ron Pavano, Bill Petit, Becky Tyrrell, Kathy Binkowski, ex officio, Suzanne Greenbacker, ex officio, Kathy Veronesi, ex officio.

Absent: Robert Ciotto, Jay Steeves, Tom Wazorko, Barbara Willard

Ron Pavano made a motion to change the minutes from the September 19, 2002 meeting. Under monthly publicity, the minutes should read "Plainville Citizen" instead of "Plainville Community News". Rich Ireland seconded the motion. Motion pass unanimously.

Fletcher-Thompson discussed the elementary school assessment with the committee. The committee discussed new projections from the town planner. Rick Oja presented the group with a Master Plan Sequence and a Progress Print for PHS.

Fletcher-Thomspon discussed the long range plan for the district. The plan is a work in progress.

Kathy Binkowski and Jack Mastrianni discussed their meeting with the Facilities Unit of the State Department of Education with the committee. Kathy Binkowski discussed waivers for renovation with the committee. Jack Mastrianni stated that the E049r is due the end of October.

The committee discussed the building tours. Richard Ireland, Jack Mastrianni, Barbara Willard and Bill Petit attended the tours. The group discussed their observations about the buildings. Becky Tyrrell read a statement from Barbara Willard regarding her observations on the tour.

The committee discussed Building Committee appointments. Kathy Binkowski sent a letter to the town manager's office with a list of suggested names for committee members. The suggested names were from the Steering Committee and former Building Committee. Jack Mastrianni will attend the next Town Council meeting.

Kate Lawson discussed monthly publicity with the committee. The committee will have their photograph taken at the next meeting. The next news release will feature information regarding the new projections.

The committee discussed renovating Linden St. School "like new" versus building a "new" school. The committee discussed using the old Linden Street school for administration, adult education, CREC, Pre-K and other programs, and building a new elementary school adjacent to it. Fletcher Thompson will present a new plan for Linden Street School at the next meeting on October 17, 2002.

The committee discussed the editorial by Jason Rupaka.

Ron Pavano made a motion to adjourn. Gail Millerick seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. The meeting was adjourned at 9:00 p.m.
