Attendees: Rich Ireland, Kate Lawson, Jack Mastrianni, Gail Millerick, Ron Pavano, Bill Petit, Jay Steeves, Becky Tyrrell, Tom Wazorko, Barbara Willard, Kathy Binkowski, ex officio, Suzanne Greenbacker, ex officio, Kathy Veronesi, ex officio.

Bill Petit opened the floor for citizen comments. There were no comments.

Ron Pavano made a motion to move discussion of ED049r to top of the agenda. Jack Mastrianni seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

Kathy Binkowski told the committee that the state requires the ED049r to be submitted by the end of October. The ED049r must be submitted by the Building Committee. The Committee discussed the ED049r.

Jim Beaudin of Fletcher Thompson gave an overview of Fletcher Thompson's presentation. Rick Oja described the site plan proposal. The site proposal shows how the existing building can be used in a like new renovation based on the school programs.

Rick Oja discussed district demographics. The committee discussed potential costs and swing space with Fletcher Thompson. Jim Beaudin discussed the need for a long term plan with the Committee.

Fletcher-Thompson will meet with the Committee on October 3, 2002 to report on the elementary schools. Fletcher-Thompson will meet again with the Committee on October 17, 2002 to report on the high school.

Kathy Veronesi discussed monthly publicity with the committee. The next series of articles will focus on the members of the Steering Committee. The Plainville Community News has also agreed to publish news releases on a weekly basis. Becky Tyrell discussed the seminar on school referendums that she attended.

The Committee discussed meeting with David Wedge of the CT Department of Education's Facilities Unit. Ron Pavano, Jay Steeves, Jack Mastrianni, Bill Petit and Kathy Binkowski will meet with Mr. Wedge. Kathy Binkowski will set up the meeting.

The Committee discussed touring the school buildings. The Committee will meet on September 23 at 9:00 a.m. at Plainville High School. The Committee will visit the Middle School storage room at 11:00 a.m. and then tour Toffolon Elementary School.

The Committee discussed the Building Committee. The Board of Education will request that the Town Council appoint Ron Pavano, Jay Steeves, Barbara Willard, Beck Tyrrell, and Jack Mastrianni to a Building Committee at the next Town Council meeting. Kathy Binkowski will find out if the former Building Committee can serve for the submission of the ED049R.
