Bill Petit opened the floor for citizen comments. There were no comments.
The Steering Committee discussed the Plymouth school referendum. Ron Pavano reported to the committee that Plymouth Schools’ Superintendent thought detailed information packets and communications in the town newspaper had a strong impact on the referendum results.
The Committee reviewed the development plans for the parcel of land off of Camp St. The developers will bring their request for a zoning change to Planning and Zoning on June 25, 2002. Kathy Binkowski has asked Bob Jackson to get a statement from the developers regarding the development’s impact on the school population.
The Committee discussed monthly publicity. The committee will use all of the local papers in its effort to communicate with the public. Kate Lawson, Kathy Veronesi and Barbara Willard will write the monthly articles at the end of each meeting. The first article will discuss the survey results.
Lynn Davis reviewed the district survey results with the Committee. The Committee agreed to wait until the Board reviews the survey before writing the monthly article. The Committee asked that a joint meeting with the Board of Education be held to discuss survey results and the direction of the Steering Committee. Kathy Binkowski will schedule the meeting for July.
Suzanne Greenbacker discussed the Kindergarten Task Force and the World Language Taskforce with the Committee.
Ron Pavano made a motion to accept the resignation of Tony Zaleski from the Linden St. School Steering Committee. Becky Tyrrell seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
Ron Pavano made a motion to adjourn. Rich Ireland seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. The committee was adjourned at 8:50 p.m.
