Committee: Linden Street School Building Committee

Date: August 4, 2005

Time: 6:30 p.m.

Attendees: Dan Dube, George Iskra, Steve Martino, Mel Masse, Ron Pavano, Ken Prigodich, Barbara Willard, Rodney Wolfel

Also Present: JCJ: Jim Pellow, Downes Construction: Tom Castello, Mike Midgette

Absent: Ray Carroll, Jack Mastrianni, Becky Tyrrell

Chairman Ken Prigodich called the meeting to order at 6:30 pm.

At the last regular meeting, the committee was informed that the moisture and PH levels in the
concrete flooring in the gymnasium and cafeteria were too high. Chairman Prigodich asked Downes Construction and JCJ to give their input and recommendations for the best way to eliminate the moisture. The findings are as follows:

High Moisture Content
Options for Fluid Applied Floor in GYM
Option 1: Koester VAP I 2000
o Dynamic Floor would apply
o Good for Moisture levels greater than 10 lbs.
o Good for high PH
o Cost $13,450.00
o Dynamic would Warranty floor as specified
o Adds 2 days to installation time
o Can be done 3 days after shot blast
Option 2: Koester VAP I PH
o Same as above, good for 10 lbs and under
o Cost $6,375.00
Option 3: Munter Dehumidification Service
o Dehumidification Machines placed outside Gym and duct run into the gym, creates air at 2-3% humidity which 'dries out the SOG”
o Munters representative stated that it would take approximately 2 weeks to get SOG moisture down to 3 lbs.
o Cost for 2 weeks Munters Propane unit, includes propane cost $7,003.00, Ferguson to unload and load equipment $500.00, Total cost of $7,503.00.
o No guarantees that 2 weeks would get level to 3 lbs., each additional week would be $2,769.00. Total Cost with 3rd week would be $10,272.00.

o If PH issue, could be additional $6,375.00

High Moisture Content
Options for VCT Floor in Cafeteria and Stage
Option 1: Aquafin SG 2
o M.F. Higgins would apply
o Good for Moisture levels greater than 10 lbs
o Good for high PH
o Cost $15,840.00, includes shot blast
o M.F. Higgins would Warranty floor as specified
o Adds 10 days to installation time (shot blast, wait one week, then sealer)
Option 2: Koester VAP I 2000
o Same as above, good for over 10 lbs.
o Cost $18,720.00 includes shot blast
Option 3: Munter Dehumidification Service
o Dehumidification Machines placed outside Gym and duct run into the gym, creates air at 2-3% humidity which 'dries out the SOG”
o Munters representative stated that it would take approximately 2 weeks to get SOG moisture down to 3 lbs.
o Cost for 2 weeks Munters unit with generator, includes diesel cost, $7,757.00, Ferguson to unload and load equipment $500.00, Total cost of $8,257.00
o No guarantees that 2 weeks would get level to 3 lbs., each additional week would be $2,996.00. Total for 3 weeks $11,253.00.
o If PH high, could be $15,840.00 additional.

Discussion ensued regarding the above options.

The committee is in agreement that the gymnasium and the cafeteria would not be able to open in September. Ken Prigodich asked Downes Construction to come up with a new timeline. Mike Midgette asked Jim Pellow to have Emily Sledge delay the delivery schedule for the equipment.

RODNEY WOLFEL MADE A MOTION TO APPLY THE CHEMICALS TO THE GYMNASIUM FLOORING. MEL MASSE SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION PASSED UNANIMOUSLY.

RON PAVANO MADE A MOTION TO APPLY THE CHEMICALS TO THE CAFETERIA FLOORING. MEL MASSE SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION PASSED UNANIMOUSLY.

The conversation regarding the telephone system was tabled for the next meeting.

Rodney Wolfel left the meeting at 7:40 pm.

DAN DUBE MADE A MOTION TO ADJOURN THE MEETING. STEVE MARTINO SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION PASSED UNANIMOUSLY. The meeting was adjourned at 8:05 pm.

The next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, August 11, 2005 at 6:30 pm in room 118 at the Plainville High School.
