PLAINVILLE BOARD OF EDUCATION Committee Minutes Committee: Linden Street School Building Committee Date: March 24, 2005 Time: 6:30 pm Attendees: Steve Martino, Ron Pavano, Ken Prigodich, Becky Tyrrell, Barbara Willard, Rodney Wolfel Also Present: JCJ: Bill Mead, Downes Construction: Mike Midgette, Steve Busel, Facilities Director Absent: Ray Carroll, Dan Dube, George Iskra, Mel Masse, Jack Mastrianni Chairman Ken Prigodich called the meeting to order at 6:45 pm. BECKY TYRRELL MADE A MOTION TO APPROVE THE MINUTES OF THE MARCH 10, 2005 MEETING. BARBARA WILLARD SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION PASSED UNANIMOUSLY. Bill Mead had nothing to report regarding the project. Mike Midgette reviewed a list of change orders for the committee to consider for approval. 1. COP No. 62 Shepard Steel, Structural Steel support plates for CMU at top of Stairs A and B $5,595.00. 2. COP No. 71 Shepard Steel, raise dunnage steel for chiller remote Condensers due to Tapered insulation at south side of penthouse $7,458.00 3. COP No. 5 Ferguson Mechanical, revised plumbing drawings. a. Add return registers in the Cafeteria $867.00 b. Add return louvers in the Media Center $3,769.00 c. Add wall heater in Stair 3201 $1,354.00 d. Add for vent, waste, and water piping $27,796.00 4. COP No. 48 Ferguson Electric, add 2 smoke detectors, 2 remote test switches, and provide 120 volt circuits to the smoke dampers to serve AHU-2-1 $5,345.00 5. COP No. 75 Manafort Brothers, sawcut slab on deck at second floor for media center stair to provide proper clearance for the stairway $1,943.00. Discussion ensued regarding the change orders. RODNEY WOLFEL MADE A MOTION TO APPROVE THE CHANGE ORDERS. BECKY TYRRELL SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION PASSED UNANIMOUSLY. 1 of 3 Bill Mead explained to the committee that 2-3% of the total project for change orders in not unusual. The committee agreed. Mike Midgette told the committee that Colossale went to the Town of Plainville to tie into the sanitary lines. There was not a problem with the Water Department but the Sanitary Department said they needed a check for $1,050.00 in order to do this. Linden Street School is a town building. Ken Prigodich will speak to Bob Metcalf regarding this situation and get back to Mike Midgette. Suzanne Greenbacker asked the committee to reinstall the fence that surrounded the building prior to the winter. Now that the weather is getting better, with the fence installed, the students will be able to go outside. Ron Pavano will see that the fence is installed. RODNEY WOLFEL MADE A MOTION TO ADJOURN THE MEETING. BARBARA WILLARD SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION PASSED UNANIMOUSLY. The meeting was adjourned at 7:10 pm. The next meeting of the Linden Street School Building Committee will be held on Thursday, April 14, 2005 at 6:30 pm in the Linden Street School Library.
