RON PAVANO MADE A MOTION TO APPROVE THE MINUTES OF THE OCTOBER 28, 2004 MEETING. RODNEY WOLFEL SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION PASSED UNANIMOUSLY. Jim Pellow from JCJ gave an update on the project. He brought with him the plans for the Linden Street School gym floor. The committee will have a joint meeting with Colin Regan, Recreation Director, John Zadnik, Athletic Director, Suzanne Greenbacker and Downes Construction to review the floor plans. There will be many groups using the gym and in the plans, the floor looks busy. They would like everyone to take a look at them. Ron Pavano requested two additional copies for that meeting. JCJ will provide them. Mike Midgette from Downes Construction gave an update on the project. Downes has been consulting with different companies regarding the Peskon Moisture Solutions. They are unsure whether to use the product. JCJ has had no experience with the additive and Downes is having a problem finding projects where it has been used. Discussion followed regarding moisture levels and how gym floors were poured at the Middle School and Wheeler. Downes will continue to discuss the product with different companies and make a decision whether to use the additive. Paul Wojtowicz from Downes told the committee that there are only six contracts to finalize for the project. 1 of 4 Work that is being done: ➢ Foundation work for the new addition is in. ➢ Storm/Sanitary pipes are 95% installed and tested. ➢ Radiant Heat ➢ Steel will be delivered November 29 for the kindergarten wing. ➢ Concrete is poured in the north and south connectors. Suzanne Greenbacker is coordinating an event so the students will have an opportunity to sign their names on a painted steel beam. More information will follow. George Iskra gave an update on the Technology Sub-Committee. A preliminary time line for the procurement package is as follows: ➢ Retain consultant by mid December 2004. ➢ Prepare procurement package by February 2005. ➢ Advertise to bid March 2005. ➢ Receive technology equipment bids by the end of April 2005. ➢ Review and award Technology Bids Contract by mid May 2005. ➢ Technology equipment on site for installation by mid September 2005. A concern the committee has is that John Laskarzewski will be retiring in June 2005. The committee is speaking with him to become the Technology Consultant for the school after his retirement. John Laskarzewski has been instrumental with much of the technology implementation throughout the town. He has had input in the Municipal Center, Police Department and the Middle School. The committee feels he would be an excellent candidate for the job. George Iskra would like a meeting scheduled for the Technology Sub-Committee the 1st week in December. Ferguson Electric is coordinating the access system for the school. If Ferguson is not going to purchase a GE system how will the system provide interface? Mr. Iskra will speak with Ferguson Electric regarding this issue. Ron Pavano and Jim Adams will produce a rough draft of the area available for the playscape. The PTO will ask for donations, fundraise and write grants to purchase equipment for the school. Downes Construction asked JCJ to make clear their plans for re-roofing the 1970 Linden building. This needs to be done before next summer. JCJ will do a layout of the roof. George Iskra also reminded JCJ about applying for rebates. Jim Pellow will speak with Bill Mead regarding these two issues. 2 of 4 George Iskra also asked Downes Construction if the project is within budget. Paul Wojtowicz told him the project is within budget.
