Also Present: Suzanne Greenbacker, Jeter Cook & Jepson: Bill Mead, Downes Construction: Paul Wojtowicz, Mike Midgette

Absent: Steve Martino, Barbara Willard

Ken Prigodich called the meeting to order at 6:35 pm.

MEL MASSE MADE A MOTION TO APPROVE THE MINUTES FROM THE AUGUST 26, 2004 MEETING. BECKY TYRRELL SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION PASSED UNANIMOUSLY.

Bill Mead from Jeter Cook & Jepson gave an update on the project. He explained that Phase III was ready to go to bid. Bids are due Thursday, September 16, 2004 for HazMat Phase IIB. Jill Pello from JCJ will be joining the committee.

Sue Greenbacker thanked Bill Mead for getting the specifications to Jim Bondi (Food Service Director).

Paul Wojtowicz from Downes Construction gave an update on the project. The Phase II bids were due on September 9, 2004. The results are as follows:

RON PAVANO MADE A MOTION TO SEND A NOTICE OF INTENT TO REWARD IW&M, FERGUSON MECHANICAL, ENVIRONMENTAL AND FERGUSON ELECTRIC. MEL MASSE SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION PASSED UNAMIOUSLY.

A hold was placed on DiAgistino Associates Notice of Intent to Reward for Masonry pending a review.

Ron Pavano requested that Ferguson Electric’s and Ferguson Mechanical’s Project Managers meet with him to discuss the project. He also reported that a transformer near the school is outdated. CL&P plans to update the transformer, which will result in the power being shut down at Linden.

Sue Greenbacker thanked Ken Prigodich, Mel Masse and Ron Pavano for their help with the opening of school. They were available to help with what ever was necessary. She reported a great opening day.

George Iskra from BVH would like to schedule a technology meeting with the Technology Committee. John Laskarzewski will be contacted and a meeting scheduled.
Mr. Iskra would like the meeting scheduled for Thursday, October 14, 2004 at 5:30 pm to review prices and equipment needs. This date will be confirmed after contacting the committee members.

Bill Mead mentioned that Emily Sledge, JCJ Interior Design, would be in contact with Sue Greenbacker regarding FF&E.

MEL MASSE MADE A MOTION TO APPROVE PAYMENT FOR SIGN-O-RAMA FOR $140.00. BECKY TYRRELL SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION PASSED UNAMIOUSLY.

MEL MASSE MADE A MOTION TO APPROVE PAYMENT FOR JETER COOK & JEPSON FOR ARCHITECTURAL SERVICES FROM AUGUST 2, 2004 THROUGH SEPTEMBER 5, 2004 FOR $11,054.29. BECKY TYRRELL SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION PASSED UNAMIOUSLY.

Ron Pavano thanked Jim Adams for his hard work. He is very satisfied with him and also with Downes Construction, stating that they are “very easy to work with”.

The committee discussed the process of change orders in length.

Rodney Wolfel thinks there should be a limit to the amount of money the Chairman and Vice Chairman can spend without waiting for committee approval. Discussion continued.

RODNEY WOLFEL MADE A MOTION TO ALLOW THE CHAIRMAN AND VICE CHARIMAN A $5,000 PER ITEM ALLOWANCE BEFORE IT MUST GO TO THE COMMITTEE. GEORGE ISKRA SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION PASSED UNAMIOUSLY.

Ron Pavano would like a weekly meeting with all the contractors. Mike Midgette from Downes Construction will contact them and confirm that with Mr. Pavano.

There will be a Special Meeting on Thursday, September 16 for the results of the Phase II Bid Package in Room 400 of the High School at 6:00 pm.

JACK MASTRIANNI MADE A MOTION TO ADJOURN. GEORGE ISKRA SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION PASSED UNAMIOUSLY. The meeting was adjourned at 7:35 pm.

The regularly scheduled meeting will be held on Thursday, September 23, 2004 at 6:30 pm in the Linden Street School Library.
