Ken Prigodich moved the agenda to Item 3, Update from Downes. Ron Pavano introduced Jim Adams. He is the Project Superintendent for the Linden Street project. The committee has worked with Jim before on other projects. He reported that the projected schedule is doing well, and everything is falling into place. The committee is very optimistic. Jim Adams left the meeting at 6:45 pm.

Ken Prigodich moved the meeting to Item 2, Update from Jeter Cook & Jepson. Bill Mead gave a copy of the School Facilities (SDE), Plan Review Record to Ken Prigodich and Superintendent, Kathleen Binkowski.

Bill Mead brought samples of concept color choices that the Interior Design staff from JCJ would like the committee to make a decision on. After much discussion, the committee chose Option A: Patina Green.
Advantages:
• Provides good contrast with window glazing and color of brick
• Compliments well with interior colors
• Introduces color to the exterior of the building

BARBARA WILLARD MADE A MOTION TO APPROVE THE SELECTION OF PATINA GREEN. RODNEY WOLFEL SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION PASSED UNANIMOUSLY.
Downes Construction Update: The bids for mechanical, electrical, masonry, sprinklers, and testing and balancing were due to Downes Construction by September 9, 2004.

Paul Wojtowicz informed the committee that many sets of plans have been distributed to bidders. If the plans are not returned, the deposit that was required will be turned over to the town.

Paul Wojtowicz gave a copy of the Construction Budget dated August 23, 2004 to the committee. Discussion continued regarding the construction budget. Becky Tyrrell thought the food service budget seemed high. Discussion continued.

Sue Greenbacker asked that the new Food Service Director, Jim Bondi, be given a set of plans for the food service area. Bill Mead will make sure a copy is sent to Linden for him.

Paul Wojtowicz would like the committee to consider using the Peskon Moisture Solution that was discussed at the August 5, 2004 meeting. The committee will need to make a decision regarding its use. The construction crew would like to use it on a small area of the roof in the Pre-K section to see how effective it is. The vapor barrier will not be deleted. Discussion continued regarding the moisture solution.

There will be an addendum to the masonry. Dry wall will be used instead of concrete bricks between demising walls and behind lockers.

Becky Tyrrell asked for an update on the duel fuel system. Ken Prigodich said they were waiting for a report from Alan Schutz, Business Manager, who is doing an assessment analysis.

Ron Pavano discussed with the committee who has access to the Linden Street Project for safety reasons. Besides himself and Ken Prigodich, Jim Adams and the construction crew, Paul Wojtowicz, Mike Midgette, the Plainville Fire Department, and the Plainville Police Department.

Ron Pavano will have a meeting with the employees from the town to make sure they know who to contact if they have any questions or concerns.

No parking signs will be put up in front of Linden Street School. Ken Prigodich and Suzanne Greenbacker will order signs necessary for the first day of school. Examples:
temporary entrance, parent drop-off, bus drop-off, etc.

The committee does not want the teachers to park near the building. They would like them to save the spaces for visitors. Kathy Binkowski will speak with the people from General Electric to see if the Linden staff could park in the adjacent lot.

There is a concern that the Plainville High School students who do not pay to park in the High School lot will park on the streets. The town plans to put up No Parking signs and have the Police Department patrol the area.
