District Names Timothy Shea As Varsity Football Coach
Plainville High School has named Timothy Shea as Varsity Head Coach of the Plainville High School Blue Devils Football Team, according to Principal Roberto Medic. Shea brings the experience of coaching both at the high school and college levels to Plainville, most recently serving as Offensive Coordinator and Offensive Line Coach at Post University for the Eagles Sprint Football Team. Shea replaces former Blue Devils Head Coach Chris Farrell who resigned earlier this year.
Prior to his stint at Post University, Shea served as Head Coach at Woodland Regional High School in Beacon Falls, Connecticut, leading the team to a 44-25 record in six seasons. Shea led the Hawks to the 2013 CIAC Class "S" State Championship Game, where they finished runner-up to Ansonia High School. During Shea's tenure, the Hawks won two Naugatuck Valley League Copper division titles, and earned CIAC playoff berths in 2010, 2012, and 2013.
Coach Shea served as the Defensive Coordinator at Woodland from 2002-2007, assisting the team in capturing two CIAC Class "SS" State Championships in 2004 and 2005, and earning CIAC playoff berths in 2004, 2005, and 2007. In addition, Shea has served an assistant coach at The Milford Academy, Naugatuck High School, and Foran High School in a coaching career that dates back to 1999. Shea has also served as an assistant coach in several high school All-Star games, including the CHSCA SUPER 100 All Star Game. In the winter and spring seasons, since 2003, Shea has served as the Head Coach for the Woodland Regional High School Indoor and Outdoor Boys Track and Field Teams. Coach Shea's track teams have won five Naugatuck Valley League Championships.
"Timothy Shea set himself apart from a talented pool of candidates for the position of Head Football Coach. Coach Shea has the ability to teach more than the game of football to our student-athletes, he has the ability to teach the social and life skills our students need to succeed in their future endeavors. This ability made Coach Shea the clear candidate of choice," noted Principal Medic.
