The "Star" phase of the Plainville Community Schools Thoughtexchange information gathering initiative will begin on May 17th and run through May 31st, according to Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Maureen Brummett.

The school district partnered with Thoughtexchange, an engagement design company, to develop an online survey to gather insight from the district's stakeholders for use in strategic planning for Plainville Community Schools. The goals of the survey process are to effectively engage the community to gather insight, identify and address emerging issues and challenges, and foster community ownership of education.

During the "Star" phase, participants will receive a communication from Thoughtexchange where they will be asked to utilize a "Star" system online to prioritize a summary of "thoughts" derived from the initial online survey feedback shared by parents, staff, and community members. Participants will prioritize the summary information through the process of assigning gold stars to the ideas that they feel are most important. Once this phase has concluded, the information will be analyzed by the Thoughtexchange group, and the results of the process will be captured in themes and reports. The final phase of the information gathering process is the "Discover" phase where the reports will be shared with participants and the community at large. Results are expected to become available in June, and will inform the district's strategic planning process going forward.

"We are pleased that close to 400 parents, staff, students and community members shared over 2,600 thoughts during the initial phase. I look forward to the outcomes of the starring process, where participants can indicate which ideas are most important to them about the future direction of our school district," noted Superintendent Brummett.
