AXA Equitable Grant Supports District Volunteer Program
Students in the Plainville Community Schools' Volunteer Program will enjoy additional books, materials, programming and supplies thanks to a $3,000 grant from the AXA Equitable Life Insurance Company. The grant was part of the company's Day of Service national volunteer program, which focuses on giving back by partnering with community organizations and supports "AXA Achievement" â€" the company's initiative to provide America's youth with the resources that help make college possible through access and advice.
AXA Equitable has partnered with the Plainville school district in a number of capacities over the last three years. AXA Equitable employees currently serve as mentors at two Plainville schools, and as volunteers in the Reading Partners program at Louis Toffolon Elementary School. In addition, AXA employees partnered with students in the high school’s Marketing classes, conducting "mock interviews" and assisting students with honing career readiness skills.
"It was very gratifying to apply for these funds and help support Volunteer Coordinator Sue Bradley's efforts at Plainville schools. Reading Partners and Mentors are great programs and we are so happy to be a part of them. We enjoy working with the students and believe the programs have a positive impact on the students and the community," said AXA Equitable Senior Manager Mary Ann Krupowies.
"We are so grateful to AXA for their generous gift to our volunteer program. The commitment the company has made to Plainville and the time their employees have donated to our schools and students is incredible. They are a shining example of a true community partner for our school district," said Superintendent of Schools, Jeffrey Kitching.
Krupowies and AXA Senior Manager Anna Napoli, were recognized for the grant from AXA Equitable at the Plainville Board of Education's February 10th meeting.
