Board / School District Recognized For Excellence In Leadership And Communication
The Plainville school district has been recognized with several awards from the Connecticut Association of Boards of Education (CABE), according to Superintendent of Schools, Jeffrey Kitching.
The Plainville Board of Education will receive CABE's highest leadership recognition; the CABE Board of Distinction Award- Level 2. This award is presented to school districts in Connecticut that meet a comprehensive set of criteria in the following categories: board leadership / student achievement, board member professional development, policy, community relations, and related organizational leadership. According to CABE, this award has been established to appropriately recognize Boards of Education which are truly exemplary. Only Boards which have achieved Level 1 distinction at least twice in the prior four years are eligible to receive the Board of Distinction Award. This is the fifth consecutive year the Plainville Board of Education has received this award. The CABE Board of Distinction Award â€" Level 2 will be presented during the CABE Convention Leadership Awards Reception on November 15.
"Plainville has been fortunate for many years now to have a Board of Education that understands the important role they play in promoting education and the well being of our students. This award has become an annual event for our Board, but the hard work that goes into this recognition should not be taken for granted. There are very few other towns in Connecticut that have accomplished this over such an extended period," noted Superintendent Kitching.
Plainville Community Schools also received seven 2013 CABE Excellence in Educational Communications Awards. In recognition of the good work that is being done on a daily basis, CABE established the Awards of Excellence for Educational Communications in 1975. This year, Plainville Community Schools' awards include: Website Category: First Place â€" Plainville Community Schools Website, Annual Report Category: Honorable Mention â€" Plainville Community Schools Business Brief, District Budget Category: Honorable Mention â€" Plainville Community Schools 2013-14 Proposed Budget, Course Selection Guide Category: Honorable Mention â€" Plainville Adult & Continuing Education Program Guide, Calendar Category: Frank T. "Telling the story of our schools and the successes of our students is a focus for us. Our staff members work hard to share information and help the community at large to be aware and informed about what goes on throughout our school system," said Kitching.
