Rosa Perez Named Assistant Principal At Plainville High School

Mrs. Rosa Perez, currently an assistant principal at Suffield High School, has been named assistant principal at Plainville High School, according to Superintendent of Schools, Jeffrey Kitching. Perez will replace current Assistant Principal Kathy Carter, who will retire this year.

Prior to becoming an assistant principal in Suffield, Perez was supervisor of the World Language Department in the Rocky Hill school system for eight years, where she coordinated the World Language Department, taught Advanced Placement language and UConn Early College Experience courses, moderated various language honor societies, coordinated the advisor/advisee program, and served as a professional development presenter. In addition, Perez has held world language teaching positions at both the middle and high school levels.

Perez holds a 6th Year Degree in Educational Leadership from Central Connecticut State University, a Master's Degree in Spanish Literature from Central Connecticut State University, and a Bachelor's Degree in Spanish with a Minor in Secondary Education/English from Assumption College.

Perez was named the candidate of choice at a special Board of Education meeting held on April 9. An Assistant Principal Search Committee, comprised of school district administrators, Plainville Board of Education members, faculty, staff, and parents conducted the search.

"The assistant principal search process was extensive and thorough. We started with a pool of over 100 applicants. Through the multiple screening processes and interviews, the hiring committee was able to narrow the number of candidates brought in for an interview to 28. After four more steps in the process, Mrs. Perez was decided upon as the outstanding candidate. Mrs. Perez has a wealth of knowledge and experience that will perfectly compliment the Plainville High School administrative team and the school community. Her current and former colleagues and supervisors all expressed the deepest respect for Rosa's abilities and attributes as an administrator, as an educator, and as a person,” said Plainville High School Principal, Steven LePage.

"Rosa Perez has impressed everyone she has met here in Plainville, including a group of our students. We are so pleased to be bringing such a high quality educational leader to the High School. She will be a great fit to the team," stated Kitching.
