Plainville Community Schools' Food Services Director, Jim Bondi has been named the State's 2013 Director of the Year by the School Nutrition Association of Connecticut, according to Superintendent of Schools, Jeffrey Kitching. "The Plainville Community Schools are very fortunate to have Jim directing our Food Services Department. Under his leadership the program has grown, prospered, and improved in many ways," said Kitching.
The Superintendent along with a group of district administrators and Food Services personnel surprised Bondi with the news on March 18 where he was personally congratulated for the award recognition. He will be formally recognized by the School Nutrition Association of Connecticut at their spring awards banquet in May.
"Jim has taken his department from a basic level lunch program that required significant financial support from the Board budget, to a health-conscious, full service foods system that meets the needs of our entire district. Even more impressive is that he has accomplished all this while making the entire program financially self-supported," added Kitching.
The Board of Education will also congratulate Mr. Bondi at their next regular meeting on April 8, 2013, at 7:00 PM.
