District To Hold Ribbon Cutting Ceremony For High School Tennis Courts
Plainville Community Schools will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony on Monday, September 10, 2012, at 5:00 PM, for the newly refurbished Plainville High School tennis courts according to Superintendent of Schools, Jeffrey Kitching.
Over time, the high school's tennis courts had fallen into disrepair and were in need of replacement. Through residual funding from capital building projects, the tennis court renovation began in June. As part of the renovation, the asphalt from the tennis courts was pulverized, recycled and used as fill. The courts were raised and perimeter drainage was added to alleviate any further drainage issues. The project was completed in mid-August, and will officially "open" at the ribbon cutting ceremony on September 10.
"This project was much needed and brings our tennis courts up to the standard set within the rest of the PHS athletic complex. We are thrilled for our students, our athletes and for the entire community," said Kitching.
The ribbon cutting ceremony is open to the public.
