Hoyt Named Business Manager For Plainville Community Schools
Edward J. Hoyt, Business Administrator for the Canton, Connecticut school system, has been named Director of Business and Operations for Plainville Community Schools. Hoyt will replace current Director of Business and Operations, Richard Carmelich, who has accepted a position with the Northwestern Regional School District 7 in Winsted, Connecticut.
Hoyt has held several positions in the private and government sectors, including Assistant Regional Director, Private Services and Administrative Services Divisions of the Connecticut Department of Mental Retardation, and Business Administrator for the Orange and Canton public school districts. In his current role as Business Administrator for the Canton Board of Education, he is responsible for budget development and fiscal monitoring, procurement of products and services, negotiation and management of collective bargaining contracts, and oversight of the food services program and facilities management. He also has experience as an educator, teaching at Plainville High School for ten years earlier in his career.
Hoyt earned a bachelor of science degree from Central Connecticut State University and a master of science degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. In addition, he is certified as a State of Connecticut School Business Administrator.
Hoyt was named the candidate of choice at the June 11 Plainville Board of Education meeting. A committee, comprised of district administrators, board members and staff members conducted the search.
"We were very fortunate to have such a high quality group of candidates to evaluate during the search process. Ed stood out in every way, and we are excited to have him joining our team," said Superintendent of Schools, Jeffrey Kitching.
It is anticipated that Hoyt will begin as Director of Business and Operations on July 1.
