Adult Education Program Receives Grant To Support Effective Teens Program
Plainville Adult and Continuing Education has received a grant from the Elizabeth Norton Trust Fund to support the Effective Teens Program. Specifically, funds will enable the purchase of Sean Covey's,"The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens" books and companion workbooks, and fund a "completion incentive" scholarship. Beginning spring semester, the books will be read by students enrolled in the Adult High School Credit Diploma Program's English class, where they will engage in weekly interactive workshops facilitated by a certified guidance counselor. An incentive to actively participate and complete the Effective Teens Program will be encouraged with a higher education scholarship drawing.
Plainville Adult and Continuing Education Coordinator Jill O'Brien said, "The Elizabeth Norton Trust Fund investment will allow students to reciprocally invest in themselves. With active participation in the Effective Teens Program, students will benefit from increased communication and self confidence - both essential in today's competitive workforce."
