District To Launch Education Update Presentation Series
As part of the school district's focus on expanding ongoing communication and information sharing, a series of "Education Update" presentations has been scheduled for the 2011-12 school year. Beginning in November, prior to each regularly scheduled Board of Education meeting, a presentation on a school district topic will be made by school district personnel. The presentations will last approximately 30 minutes and are open to the public. The first presentation will focus on the topic of bullying, changes in the state bullying law, and the steps Plainville Community Schools has taken to address this issue. The presentation will be made by Assistant Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Maureen Brummett, and is scheduled for November 14, 2011, at 6:15PM in the Plainville High School cafeteria. The next presentation on December 12, at 6:00 PM will feature information about school district finances and the Board of Education budget development process, delivered by Director of Finance and Operations, Richard Carmelich.
"Through the Education Update presentations, we hope to expand our information sharing efforts on key school district issues. We encourage parents and community members to attend these presentations throughout the school year," said Superintendent of Schools, Jeffrey Kitching.
