Vicki Trzcinski, Special Education Program Specialist / Instructional Leader for Plainville Community Schools, has been named the Director of Special Education and Pupil Services for the Plainville school district. Ms. Trzcinski replaces former Special Education Director Maureen Schiffer, who became Assistant Superintendent on December 1, 2010.
Trzcinski's career in Plainville spans over 13 years, serving as a special education teacher at the Middle School of Plainville for four years and then as Program Specialist since 2002. Trzcinski holds a bachelor of science degree from Southern Connecticut State University and a master of science degree in special education from Central Connecticut State University. In addition she holds a sixth year certification in educational leadership from the University of Connecticut.
Trzcinski was named the candidate of choice at a special Board of Education meeting held on May 2. It is anticipated she will begin as Director of Special Education and Pupil Services on June 1, 2011.
Superintendent of Schools Dr. Kathleen Binkowski remarked, "Vicki has been very forward thinking during her 13 year tenure in the district. She has provided direction and support for many of our programs for at-risk youth. Her creativity, intelligence and work ethic will contribute to success at the next level of her career."
"The Board was impressed at the high quality candidates that were brought forward for this position and we are very pleased to promote Vicki Trzcinski from within our school system, to the position of Director of Special Education and Pupil Services," said Plainville Board of Education Chair, Becky Tyrrell.
