Memorial Wall Of Honor Induction Ceremony To Be Held

The Plainville Board of Education and the Plainville Community Schools' Naming Committee will hold an induction ceremony on April 11, 2011 at Plainville High School, for the newly created Memorial Wall of Honor, according to Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Kathleen Binkowski.

The ceremony, honoring its first inductees in memoriam, Mr. Thomas L. Wazorko, and Mr. Thomas R. Ferguson, will be held at the Memorial Wall of Honor in the east corridor outside of the Plainville High School Pool. The ceremony will take place at 6:00PM, with a reception following immediately after in the Plainville High School cafeteria.

Thomas Wazorko served as a member of the Plainville Board of Education for 25 years, being the longest consecutive term-serving member in the Board's history. He was involved in numerous non-profit and community agencies in Plainville and throughout Connecticut.

Thomas Ferguson served on the Plainville Board of Education for 16 years. His major focus was on the educational and recreational needs of local youth.

The Memorial Wall of Honor is a permanent tribute to recognize local individuals for their service to the educational community. The memorial was established by the Plainville Community Schools' Naming Committee, which includes William Crowley, Chair, Anthony Goldberg, Vice Chair, Greg Ziogas, Stacey Norton, Steve Martino, and Steve Slomski. Ex-officio members include Becky Tyrrell, Dr. Kathleen Binkowski, and Steven LePage. Custom wall plaques for the honorees were designed and created by Plainville High School students under the direction of Communication Technology Instructor, David Gaignard.

The Memorial Wall of Honor Induction Ceremony event is open to the public. Those interested in attending should RSVP to Joan Calistro at: (860) 793-3210 ext. 202.
