Traci Mayette Named Middle School Of Plainville Assistant Principal
Traci Mayette, currently a teacher and team leader in the West Hartford, Connecticut school system, has been named Assistant Principal of the Middle School of Plainville. Mayette will fill a vacancy left by former Middle School Assistant Principal Dr. Beth Larkins-Strathy.
Mayette has held a number of positions in both the public and private sector. She began her career as a child advocate and community educator, and currently serves as a teacher and team leader at Sedgwick Middle School in West Hartford, where she has taught both seventh and eighth grade. In addition, Mayette has worked on curriculum development and instruction for elementary students through West Hartford’s summer school programs. She holds a bachelor of science degree from the University of Connecticut and a master of science degree from Central Connecticut State University. In addition, Mayette earned a sixth year certificate of advanced studies in educational leadership at Sacred Heart University.
Mayette was named the candidate of choice at a special Board of Education meeting held on November 1. An Assistant Principal Search Committee, comprised of school district administrators, Plainville Board of Education members, faculty, staff, and parents conducted the search.
"The applicants for this position were very impressive and Ms. Mayette brings with her a skill set that will help the Middle School continue to move in a positive direction," said Plainville Board of Education Chairperson, Becky Tyrrell.
"Traci is a talented educator who will add value to the work we are doing in the middle school. We are looking forward to her addition to the administrative team," stated Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Kathleen Binkowski.
It is anticipated that Mayette will assume the Assistant Principal position at the Middle School of Plainville on December 1.
