Plainville High School Students Attend Rotary Youth Leadership Program
Four Plainville High School students recently attended the annual Rotary Youth Leadership Award Program (RYLA), according to Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Kathleen Binkowski. Melinda Le, Alexis Rodriguez, Marcquille Johnson, and Rebecka Mousch were selected to attend the daylong program held at Springfield College on June 12.
The focus of the program was youth leadership, and featured an overview of Rotary, interactive team building and leadership exercises, and two sessions with motivational speaker Dr. Anthony F. Chelte. According to the Rotary Youth Leadership program committee, RYLA focuses on teaching leadership, respect, cooperation, and tolerance among all of the participants.
"The Plainville Rotary Club takes pride in not only providing financial assistance to Plainville High School students through scholarships every year but also providing a program that helps to develop leadership skills," commented Plainville Rotary Club President, Shirley Osle.
"We appreciate the significant contributions Rotary makes through scholarships and by supporting the district goals of developing leadership skills in our students," said Superintendent Binkowski.
