Varsity Football Coach Named at Plainville High School
The Plainville High School Athletic Department announces the appointment of Chris Farrell as varsity coach of the Plainville High School Blue Devils football team. Farrell, who is currently a health and physical education instructor at Plainville High School, replaces former varsity football coach Rocky Gagliardi.
Farrell served as an assistant varsity football coach and currently serves as the assistant varsity baseball coach at Plainville High School. He holds a bachelor of science degree from Eastern Connecticut State University.
"The football coach selection committee was comprised of seven members: two coaches, two parents, two student-athletes, and the athletic director. This is the first time that parents and athletes were a part of the selection committee," explained Plainville Community Schools Athletic Director, John Zadnik. "Although all of the candidates interviewed exceptionally well, Chris Farrell was the committee's unanimous first choice. In his capacity as a physical education teacher at the high school, the committee felt extremely confident in Chris's ability to attract new players to the football program. We feel that Chris will be a teacher and a coach here for many years to come, and he will give our football program the stability that it so desperately needs."
