District To Conduct Communication Program Evaluation
The Plainville school district will be conducting a district communication program evaluation beginning this month, according to Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Kathleen Binkowski. "The communication evaluation will offer the opportunity for our stakeholders to share their thoughts and opinions relative to school district communications," explained Binkowski.
The communication program evaluation will include a multi dimensional data collection process featuring a print media analysis and a series of customized surveys for community members, parents, Community Partners, media, the local business sector, and district staff. In addition, a series of focus groups will be held this spring.
A school district communication audit was conducted in 2005 to identify communication strengths and opportunities to make improvements to communication practices. As an outcome of that process, a comprehensive district communication plan was developed, focusing on a number of improvements under six areas of focus. Over the past several years, specific improvements have been made to both internal and external communication as outlined in the district communication plan.
The communication survey for the community will be included in the winter edition of the district’s Community Letter newsletter, and will also soon be available online on the school district website, together with the parent communication survey. Results from the communication program evaluation will be utilized to update the current district communication plan.
"We are proud of the many improvements to our communication practices that have been implemented over the past several years and look forward to hearing from our various audience segments through the program evaluation, so we may continue to refine district communication to meet their needs," said district Communications Specialist, Lynn Davis.
