CABE Recognizes District for Excellence in Leadership and Communication
The Plainville school district has been recognized with several awards from the Connecticut Association of Boards of Education (CABE), according to Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Kathleen Binkowski.
The Plainville Board of Education is one of only seven school boards to receive CABE's highest leadership recognition; the CABE Board of Distinction Award â€" Level 2. This award is presented to school districts in Connecticut that meet a comprehensive set of criteria in the following categories: board leadership / student achievement, board member professional development, policy, community relations, and related organizational leadership. According to CABE, this award has been established to appropriately recognize Boards of Education which are truly exemplary. Only Boards which have achieved level 1 distinction at least twice in the prior four years are eligible to receive the Board of Distinction Award.
"This special recognition is further confirmation that the Plainville school district is headed in the right direction. The Board and Administration are focused on what is best for students; being recognized by CABE for our work is certainly a great honor," said Plainville Board of Education Chair, Becky Tyrrell. The Board of Distinction Award will be presented during the CABE Leadership Awards Reception on November 20.
The Plainville school district has also been selected to receive three awards as part of CABE’s Excellence in Educational Communications awards program. According to CABE’s website, in recognition of the good work that is being done on a daily basis, the organization established the Awards of Excellence for Educational Communications contest in 1975. This year, Plainville Community Schools’ awards include: Website Category: First Place - Plainville Community Schools' Website, Newsletter Category: Honorable Mention - Community Partners Connection newsletter, and Going Green Category: Honorable Mention â€" Going Green article.
The communication awards will be presented by CABE later this year, and award winning materials will be on display at the annual CABE / CAPSS Convention in November.
"It is an honor to work with a Board of Education that has so many accomplishments. Their leadership is exemplary as they work tirelessly to improve student achievement," said Binkowski.
