Linden Street School To Hold First Day Celebration
Linden Street School will welcome students and their families "back to school" with a First Day Celebration on Tuesday, September 1, 2009, according to Principal Suzanne Greenbacker. The celebration will be held at 8:45 AM in the school's gymnasium. "This is an awesome way to begin the school year. We have not been able to hold the First Day Celebration the last couple of years because we were sharing our school with Toffolon School," explained Greenbacker.
The program will include a number of guest speakers, including Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Kathleen Binkowski. Linden's Physical Education Instructor, Melissa Patterson will also lead students in a "strong minds / strong bodies" exercise. Students will be dismissed to classes after the program, and parents will be invited to enjoy refreshments in the school's cafeteria. In addition, there will be a number of booths with information about local area resources available for families. Representatives from the public library, Plainville Family Resource Network, Parks and Recreation Department, Parent Teacher Club, the D.A.R.E. Program, and others will be available to share information about their respective organizations.
"It is important to continue to build a strong partnership with our families and the community. I hope as many parents join us who can; I do understand that some parents will be working but hope that they will be with us in spirit. I am looking forward to a wonderful school year," said Greenbacker.
