Louis Toffolon Elementary school opened its doors recently for a Community Celebration to showcase the refurbished school building. On June 11, the public was invited to join the Toffolon school community in an open house to recognize the support of the greater community and say thank you for being a part of the renovation process. "It was important for the students and staff of Toffolon to thank the community for their support and perseverance in getting our school renovated. The community came together to provide us with this beautiful new school and it couldn't be a better place for kids," said Toffolon Principal Lynn Logoyke.
The dedication ceremony provided community members, parents, students and friends, the opportunity to tour the newly renovated building. Refreshments for the evening were provided by the Toffolon Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). The program also featured a musical segment with selections performed by both current and alumni Toffolon band members. All musicians came together in a spirit of performance, dedication, and pride as they performed "America" and "Stars and Stripes" under the direction of Toffolon Band Director Barbara Senatore. Music Teacher and Choral Director Kenneth Quesnel led the Toffolon Select Chorus as they performed three selections, including "Toffolon Tigers," the Toffolon School song composed by Quesnel.
"It was a long time coming with a tremendous amount of work by many community members. It is a wonderful building that will serve the community well for many years," said Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Kathleen Binkowski.
"The completion of Toffolon School signifies the end of a long road of major school renovations. It is truly amazing to see what the Plainville community has accomplished over the last few years," noted Plainville Board of Education Chair, Becky Tyrrell.
