Louis Toffolon Elementary School Students and Staff Prepare for Return to Northwest Drive Site
With Louis Toffolon Elementary School renovations nearly complete, final preparations are being made for students and staff to return to the Northwest Drive site. "We are all looking forward to returning to our home. The town should be proud of this renovation project. The students are excited to see their school and the staff is eager to start teaching back at Toffolon," said Toffolon Principal Lynn Logoyke.
On January 15, Toffolon students will take a "field trip" to visit and walk through the newly renovated school. The first official day of school at Toffolon is scheduled for January 20, with bus transportation in place. An informal open house is scheduled for families and friends of Toffolon on January 22 from 2:30-3:30 for parents, and 5:00-6:30 for parents and friends.
"I am appreciative of the work of the staff and the leadership of Mrs. Logoyke as we accomplished a monumental goal of maintaining quality education while working in a temporary building," said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Kathleen Binkowski. "This environment provided a cost saving alternative to portable classrooms for two and a half years. The Toffolon parents have been understanding during this time and the Linden family very welcoming."
"The completion of Toffolon School brings us close to the completion of the Long Range Plan. Staff and students in Linden and Plainville High School report the new and renovated buildings have created an environment that stimulates all learners and we expect that Toffolon staff and students will have a similar experience. The community made a wise investment and we should all be very proud of our schools," said Plainville Board of Education Chairperson Becky Tyrrell.
