Wesoly Named Plainville High School Varsity Basketball Coach
The Plainville High School Athletic Department announces the appointment of Marc Wesoly as head coach of the Plainville High School Boys’ Varsity Basketball Team. Wesoly, who most recently served as an intern at Plainville High School, has worked with the Plainville basketball program as freshmen coach since 2006 and varsity assistant since 2003. He has also served as a volunteer golf coach for Plainville High School.
"I am very pleased to have Marc Wesoly as our new varsity boys’ basketball coach. He is not only a graduate of P.H.S., but he played both basketball and golf here, and he has been a part of our basketball coaching staff since 2003," explained Plainville Community Schools Athletic Director, John Zadnik. "One of the most prominent reasons we chose Marc, is that he knows and loves Plainville, its residents, and most importantly, the athletes who will be playing for him during the next several years. Having coached our successful freshmen team last year, he has already earned the respect of many of the players who will now be playing for him at the varsity level. Also, since he has been an intern and substitute teacher at the high school, our hope is that he will be able to entice some of our athletes who have not played basketball in the last year or two, to come out for the team."
Wesoly, a Plainville resident, replaces former Boys’ Varsity Basketball Coach Gervais Barger. He holds both associate and bachelor of arts degrees from Mitchell College, and a master of science degree from the University of Bridgeport.
"Marc is an extremely talented and dedicated coach, who has a tremendous passion for the game of basketball, as well as for the athletes whom he has already had the privilege of instructing. I believe that he is the perfect person to take over our boys’ basketball program at the present time," added Zadnik.
