State Teacher of the Year Tour of Schools to Include Middle School
The Middle School of Plainville has been selected to be part of the Tour of Connecticut Schools this fall, organized by State Teacher of the Year Christopher Poulos. The Tour of Schools initiative includes a visit from local, state and federal officials to one school from each of the State's Demographic Reference Groups (DRG). The middle school visit will be held on October 1st. The event will begin with classroom observations, followed by a "Town Meeting" program moderated by Poulos. The Town Meeting will include students, parents, teachers, administrators, board members and community leaders together with state leaders, who will discuss educational successes and accomplishments, as well as challenges.
"Christopher Poulos, the 2007 Connecticut Teacher of the Year, has been working diligently to strengthen the bridge between education policymakers and the teaching and learning that takes place in classrooms across Connecticut. As a means of achieving this goal, he has organized the Tour of Connecticut Schools. I am very pleased and proud that the Middle School of Plainville has been chosen to represent DRG F on the Tour of Connecticut Schools," said Assistant Principal Matthew Guarino, who is coordinating the middle school visit.
"This is a wonderful opportunity for our district to share our many outstanding accomplishments as well as the challenges we face," Superintendent Kathleen Binkowski stated.
