Alvaro Named Administrator for Old Saybrook, CT School System
Middle School of Plainville Principal Carole Alvaro has been named Director of Pupil and Professional Services for the Old Saybrook, Connecticut school district.
Alvaro has served as principal at the Middle School of Plainville since 2002. Prior to this role, she was employed with the Glastonbury, South Windsor, and Farmington, Connecticut school systems. In addition, she has held a variety of positions in the field of education in both New York and Australia. Alvaro will continue in her current position as principal at the middle school until June 30th.
"After leading the Middle School of Plainville for more than five years, it is with mixed emotions that I say farewell. Plainville Community Schools' goal to raise student achievement is occurring on a daily basis in our schools thanks to the support and collaborative effort by the district educators, and I am honored to have had a part in this process," stated Alvaro.
“As principal, Carole has consistently demonstrated a steadfast commitment to keeping the best interest of students at heart. She has a passion and sense of urgency for improving student achievement that is rarely seen. Her expectations have kept the middle school focused on student achievement through continuous improvement. I thank Carole for the many contributions she has made as an educator in Plainville, and wish her well in her new role as Director of Pupil and Professional Services in Old Saybrook,” commented Dr. Kathleen Binkowski, Superintendent of Schools.
