David Telesca, principal of DePaolo Middle School in Southington, Connecticut has been named assistant superintendent for the Plainville Community Schools. Telesca replaces former Assistant Superintendent Patricia Charles, who left Plainville in June to become superintendent in Westbrook, Connecticut.
Telesca began his career in education as a science and math teacher, and subsequently served as assistant principal at the Hamden Middle School, and principal of the Shepaug Valley Middle School in Washington, Connecticut. In addition, he was an adjunct instructor in educational leadership at Southern Connecticut State University. Telesca has held the position of principal at DePaolo Middle School since 2002. He holds a bachelor of science degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and teacher certification through the Connecticut Alternate Route to Certification program. In addition, he holds a master of science degree from the University of Connecticut and a sixth year certificate from Southern Connecticut State University.
Telesca was named the candidate of choice at a special Board of Education meeting held on November 20th. An Assistant Superintendent Search Committee, comprised of Board of Education members, district administrators, staff members, and parents conducted the search. It is anticipated that Telesca will begin as assistant superintendent in Plainville on January 2, 2007.
